I am ready to get my Jeep Liberty CRD back this week and have been driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.7L in the mean time.

Some Things I will miss:

TIRES...why doesn't DC put the Goodyear Fortera HL's on the KJ...these tires are SO MUCH BETTER than our stock Goodyears

SEATS...I like my KJ seats ok but the GC Seats are 10 fold better for comfort

AUTO ROLLUP FRONT WINDOWS...not only does it have the auto rolldown windows but it also has the auto rollup windows...one push or pull and you are done

OVERHEAD SUNGLASS HOLDER...seems stupid but your glasses are always where you left them and easy to access while you are driving

AUTO UNLOCK...you can set the door locks to all open when the drivers door is open

ERS (Electronic Range Select) AUTOMATIC...whether the 545RFE or W5A580 (Mercedes) tranny, they both come with the option to just slap the stick to up and down shift

W5A580 TRANNY...comes with a 3.19 1st gear ratio that makes the 3.7L more responsive than the 3.0 1st gear the KJ's get (not such a big deal for the CRDs with our torque curve)

Still want my CRD back ASAP...I miss the clatter and smoke...lol

I like the seats in my Liberty -- then again, I've got leather -- then again, my previous vehicle was a 19 yr old Buick station wagon, so I'd probably consider a lawn chair a big improvement.

Auto rollup windows would be nice.

No Auto Unlock? All my doors unlock when I pull the interior handle to open the driver's door.

ERS... Is this like a tiptronic or something? I hate not having a manual tranny. A pseudo-automatic that lets you choose when to shift up or down would be wonderful. I wonder if this could be retrofit...?

Since my KJ is in the shop getting a brand new engine and turbo, I can't check on the door locks...maybe there is a way to set them but I don't remember mine unlocking when the drivers side unlocks...could be wrong.

I had leather seats in my 2002 KJ with Mopar Seats covers (extra cushioning) but the GCs seats feel much better...support wise especially in the lumbar area.

It is like tiptronic (not quite as "quick"). The center console might not be big enuff to retrofit on our 545RFEs. Not really a big deal but it was nice for a bit. I also don't know if ours will work quite the same with the extra 2nd gear we have.

Oh yeah, Did I mention TIRES!!!

Do a test for us and stick a 2x4 in the window opening near the top and then do the 'auto up' feature of the window and see how hard it hits.

It was left out of the liberty as a safety issue so kids don't get limbs or their neck stuck in an 'auto up' window accident. Maybe now they have a nice sensor that keeps the impact/chopping force of the 'auto up' in check.

Yep, kind of a freak thing but a valve keeper broke and the valve dropped onto #1 cylinder...permanently stuck in that piston and beat the holy you know what out of the cylinder, head, glowplug ect. When they let the fumoto oil drain open...water and antifreeze poured out for the first 20 seconds and then the oil. I am sure pieces of the glowplug ect went thru the system and could have "dinged" the turbo...so they are doing a complete replacement...had 8100 miles on it.

I tried to do your test but I couldn't fit a 2x4 Compass in the window so I just used a piece of foam...

Yes it has a sensor that is very sensitive...it immediately rolls completely down when I put a piece of foam in the way...very nice.

You can set the CRD to Auto Unlock through the overhead console. When the drivers door is opened from the inside, all the doors can unlock. Mine does this.

I have a basic limited which doesn't have the overhead console either, but it has the auto lock feature. This would be nice because sometimes you like to get stuff out of the back and you have to manually hit the unlock button to open the hatch. Would be nice to have everything auto-unlock when the driver manually operates the drivers side door.

I believe there is still a way to do it - it's outlined in the owners manual. I recall reading two sets of different instructions for programming using a series of different button pushes on models w/o the overhead console. I can try to check it out tomorrow in my manual.

If you don't have EVIC console (I don't) the dealer has to program the locks not to autolock. However, the rear still autolocks no matther what the dealer does. It is supposed to be a safety feature, but as there is no inside handle I can't understand what it could be. The did mine for free, but normally charge 1/4 hr to do change.

I am interested in the Auto Open...so when the driver opens the door...all doors unlock.
