Well it finally happed to me. No, not the egr problem. And not the balljoint or transmission problems. I finally got the, "Hey, you know that's diesel?" question. The guy was in a big delivery truck loaded with bricks and he was in the intersection waiting for the light to change. I was just standing there filling up and said "yeah." Then he says, "that Jeep's got a diesel?" I replied in the affirmative, he yelled back something about not wanting me to ruin my truck and drove off. Fun times! |

I play the reverse game. They ask me "that's a diesel". Then I say "oh no this is diesel going into my jeep". Either way it's fun. |

Back when gas was more expensive than diesel, my standard answer was "Well Diesel is cheaper and I'm trying to save money. I certainly don't want to pay for that expensive gasoline." Of course I said this with a grin on my face, and they just stared at me with the "your an idiot" look |

Of course I said this with a grin on my face, and they just stared at me with the "your an idiot" look Oh yeah, this has lots of potential... "Well, diesel was cheaper today than gas..." "I heard diesel gets 30% better mileage than gas, so I thought I'd try it out." "All the other pumps were busy, but this one was open." Actually, even before I had the humungous label slapped on the back nobody ever said anything stupid about the CRD. A couple people filling up and a few station attendants asked how I like the CRD. Once I had a parking lot attendant voice some lust over the CRD when I pulled up in front of him and he realized the distinctive idling garbage truck sound in front of him indicated diesel. |

Stations? We don't need no stinkin' Gas Stations! My ASTM Biodiesel is delivered to my house. I fill up at home. Sweet Freedom! Joy and bliss, sweet Liberty (no pun intended)! ...but like most freedoms, at a hefty price ($3.50/gallon). And to be fair, I have to blend now that it's getting cold. Hard starts on 100%. |

I built an 82 gallon tank for my truck so I can fill my 250 gallon tank in my back yard with bio and I don't have to pay a delivery fee. It was filled with heating oil that I got for free but I would never use that in the liberty. ![]() |

First post here! Glad I found this place. I have had my 06 CRD since April of this year and I have been filling up at the same station since day 1. I live in PA Amish country and needless to say, Diesel engines of all kinds are just as plentiful as Gas engines. So my Liberty sits in the same line for diesel as the Medium/Heavy duty trucks, Huge John Deere tractors and tankers. I used to get some funny looks, but now we all know each other and it is pretty comical to hear some of what they say. My favorite is "Here comes Eric in his little blue Manure spreader". Love the vehicle and I looked at a bunch before I bought it. Eric |
