Post subject:  Exhaust system fitment guide

I'm only talking from the cat back here!!!

Hey so any old 3.7L exhaust system from any of the years will fit the CRD '05 or 06, right? There's only the alumanized Dynomax system that says it's designed for the CRD, but I've seen some folks on here buy the 3.7L systems for their CRDs.

Am I right here or what? Do only the 05-06 gasser systems fit the 05-06 CRD?

What's the deal here, eh?

thanks,
Nick

I think the exhaust is the same for all years. Dynomax lists one system for all years including the CRD.

I put the Dynomax on mine. If I were to do it again I would order the Dynomax long muffler and the intermediate pipe from Summit racing and keep the stock tail pipe section. Cut the tail pipe off the muffler and expand the end where DC crimps it down. The bends in the Dynomax tailpipe are only slightly better than stock. The intermediate pipe that Dynomax makes is fine but the flange is crimped down to about 2" as is the stock flange behind the cat. To eliminate this constriction, I need a 2.5" ID sleeve. Cut this joint out of system and it will be true 2.5" exhaust all the way back. The joint locks up tight and doesn't need to move. The only reason to get the Dynomax int. pipe is because it is mandrel bent and has the proper angle to it. The stock intermediate section has a big crimp in the middle and is smaller than 2.5"

Total for this should be about $100. I hit the Easy button and ordered the whole thing. It goes in easily if you can jack the rear wheels off the ground.

If you live anywhere but the south, and see snowy roads, stay away from the dynomax aluminzed stuff. I had the Dynomax on my SHO in SC and I loved it and recommended it ot my mom to put on her SHO in IN. She was replaced both mufflers and also had to replace the intermediate pipe. So the system will only last you 2-3 years before something needs replaced on it.

We put the Magnaflow #15870 on my vehicle and it was a snap!
All SS, not much different sound than stock (although I was hopping for
a little rumble). Just about 2.5" all the way through (2 7/16 at one connection).
Could be done DIY in driveway.
A little more $ than just a pipe and muf, but the install was so east it made
it worth it for a SS Cat back system.
Best price I found delivered to my door was from performancepeddler.com.
Tell them BRUNO sent you.
