They are ridiculously expensive, but the OBD III and Starscan tools that the dealers use are available to anyone if I'm not mistaken. Anyone with 10,000 dollars that is. Obviously not practical for an individual or small shop, but for a tuning outfit like InMotion, it should make it possible to program a blank ECM with the VIN number and injector data, and go from there. This would eliminate the need to send in your ECU, and it might make things like a manual trans conversion more feasible if the European flash files could be obtained. I think the flash files are on a subscription type basis. Just thinking out loud a little.
