I'm sick of seeing negative posts about this and that with the CRD and its tranny - whatever.

I absolutely love my CRD and wouldnt give it up for quids. I for one have owned an 03 petrol KJ renegade and couldnt get rid of it quicker.....

I love the noise it makes , sounds tough and reliable.
I love its power and torque, it can blast past other petrol 4x4s in a flash.
I love its crawling power, so strong and smooth.

and finally, I love its fuel consumption, not matter how hard you push it.............. 8)

God bless Jeep for putting diesel engines in some of their range, cant wait to sample the rest in a few years time................

This little diesel is irreplaceable to me. I tried to take a good look at everything else comparable on the market, and there just wasnt anything that could stack up to the Liberty CRD. Tow rating, range, and economy cant be beat or even matched in most cases. And I love that diesel sound as well. 8) It does everything I need it to do and then some, and the aftermarket is picking up so we have lots of goodies for the liberty as well.

I love my "spagatti diesel" :D The growning rear brakes, shuttering transmission, seats that stain from water and ball joints that need replaced are another story :shock:

Ditto to that. But my positive comment is that I've never been broken down or stranded in the 15 months I've owned mine thus far. Just getting a little worn down from being proactive and getting the flashes and fixes as soon as they come out.

This is my 4th time in for a transmission reflash TSB, filter TSB, or recall and I'm in there quick because I do love this thing - just worried about the human error that can be introduced from the 37 pages of recall work.

Please oh Jeep Diesel Gods let it come out unscathed and improved for the 4th time in a row! :P

Being a VW Diesel tech, I have done a few things to improve this motor, fixed the EGR problem and no don't ask me because its not legal to do,fix the ccv problem and few other tweeks.

OzLtd,

While I agree with your sentiments, the timing may be off a little. A 37 page recall which may or may not fix the problem, and may or may not castrate the CRD is not going to inspire universal enthusiasm.

Humm nope not Blue....Very Funny.....more like it's not their any more my EGR is NOT one the CRD any more I took it out .Hint some of the TDI guys did the same thing ......Manny

I love my CRD as well, only one small assembly issue with a wiring harness, once fixed, its been great. I would buy another one in a flash, if I could afford it.

I have to say, I love my CRD, its treated me well so far with only regular maintenance so far....havent set a tire back on the dealers lot so far, all maintenance is done by a local diesel specialist.

I love towing and working the CRD, I think it runs better on the highway towing a camper, couple ATV's or my brothers 3200 lb race car.

It gets better mileage then the V6 Grand Am it replaced, plus I have 4wd again and something that can tow & offroad sensibly.

Even with one blown engine...a freak occurance as far as I can tell...I love the CRD because of the way it drives. TORQUE was the answer to my driving needs. ESP, Traction Control, ROM, Brake Assist, ABS were some big reasons for getting rid of my 2002 KJ 3.7L. Mileage was also a big plus. There was nothing else out there on the market stateside that is even in the same category... 4x4 SUV with FullTime 4WD, Turbo Diesel Guts, Great Mileage and the Room I required.

Some call the KJs "Cute Utes" but I have fully modded one and taken it where the bigger rigs have gone. I have rolled it end over end and side over side over a 18ft drop off...it landed on its feet and was still moving forward after the comotion. I have had a 1 ton landscaping truck rear end me ( I had TrailReady Bumpers front and rear which helped ) and barely got a scratch...the Chevy had to be towed off with the front end pushed into the back of the front wheelwell. I like a strong woman but I would want her to be cute too!!!

For a lot of the reasons you mentioned a very high percentage are unwilling to give the CRD up. I looked again and there is nothing else in it's class.

I was going to get rid of through Lemon Law, but there is nothing else to get. I had a Dodge RAM QC 4x4 and it was a pathetic gas guzzling pickup. It ran great, but the motor could barely push its 5200 lbs along. Terrible gas mileage and couldnt tow anything.

My CRD gets 25-30mpg and I can pull the frames out of full size pickup trucks without a blink!

Ive only had mine for a month now minus a week now for the f37 but other wise i love it its awsome best ive ever had and will never give her up NEVER i say :D

Mine is certainly a keeper! As others have said, there was nothing in it's class when I bought it, there is nothing there now and there seems to be nothing coming in the immediate future. It goes anywhere I point it gleefully!

My CRD made a cross country trip twice while pulling a 2000 lbs trailer without complaint or even a wimper. The CRD saved me fuel and tolls using the NAV and prevented us from getting lost. The heated seats helped my wife to make the trips with her bad back. She had two disc removed and five screws and hardware. I believe the shuttlering problem is poor quality fuel and this has only happen on the east coast and fixed by a heavy dose of power service gray bottle. I don't regreat on moment that I brought the CRD. :D :mrgreen:

Keeping mine, just did the F37, new pump and TQ, just increasing my odds, as I really am a
Diesel finatic, drove a VW TDI for 250,000 and you have be ready to tinker and in this country
be ready to have a bit of work to get a diesel dialed in correctly, because of cheap parts.
Runs great, love driving it, dealership is great to work with and is proactive with me.

My plan is to drive it until it dies - rebuild it and start over again.
27,000 miles and the only problem was the EGR replacement.
I love my diesel.
