I finally got to install the Fumoto today while changing oil. I don't know how they got the original plug in so tight but it was WAY over 35 ft lbs of torque on that sucker! I think 35ft lbs of torque is excessive for the adapter. I don't want to remove it now for fear that the threads are toast. I figure this because the adapter for the pan has fewer threads on it than the plug that came out; the threads at the end of the adapter have less surface area and indeed started to give way. I was able to remove the valve from the adapter a few times and re tighten it without the adapter for the pan moving, so I'm not concerned about the adapter coming out. I just hope it doesn't leak so I have to remove it; I don't have a good feeling the threads will hold up.

More of a concern was the transmission fluid at the bottom of the bellhousing. After only 7700 miles, I wasn't expecting this. Hopefully that new pump with the revised seal could be in my future. Since I have the shudder, I'm wondering if this isn't just another stage along the way to failure. Anyone else had transmission fluid leaking?

I don't even want to talk about that stupid air box. How hard would it have been to rotate it another couple of degrees so you could actually maneuver the lid and not have to wrestle with the power steering pump getting in the way? Being it is cold here, it wasn't real cooperative about coming out. I was going to try and check to make sure the air box was installed correctly as per another thread, but once I heard cracking and such, I decided to fore go that endeavor. I'll do the airbox mod from the gasser and then won't worry about breaking the one in there now.

Well leaky tranny's are definantly a concern. Are you sure its tranny fluid?

If you'v got that adaptor in and it isnt leaking, I would not chance taking it out again, just leave it alone and check it on occasion for leaks.

I have installed the Fumoto drain valve as well, with no problems so far. It installed very easily, put the valve together nad then into the pan. I carry the old plug in the console, just for emergency use, if the valve started leaking. I also place a small tie wrap around the valve in the grove, to keep it from releasing, until I cut the tie.

Yeah, I'm sure it is trans fluid. I added half a bottle of fluid to bring the level up as was discussed in another thread. I was hoping that would have taken care of my shudder issues, but no such luck. Minor set back is all. The transmission will be fixed; now if there was a good solution for the EGR which I suspect is out or going out.
