Don't know where you are from but jeep in the us does not spec the same oil for the 3.7 and the 2.8. Two different filter numbers also. Not sure on the oil capacities of the 3.7

Has anyone tried to install a dual bypass filter system from AMSOIL? When I was installing my lift kit I looked but space is definatly at a premium. Got the filter system on the Powrstroke and sampling shows it doing a great job. Might be tricky because of the unibody and sound transfer though. :?:

For the time, money, and complexity I'll just change the oil. Lots of people talk about the bypass filter but I don't think anyone has installed one. Not worth it IMHO.

A interesting side note is that the factory service manual calls for different oil on export CRD's :!:
It's DC MS-6395 sae 10-40 or Europan standard 10-40 but under 5C 5-40 is recommended.

You're completely right. Late night post that wasn't fully thought through. The 0-40 is recommended for other gasoline applications, but not in the 3.7. Thanks for the correction!

Got Diesel,

That was a nice technical read!

Well done and thanks,

E

I agree and I will if Manny will send me the link where it was cut and pasted from, need to make sure there is no problem with reprinting and to make sure nothing was left out on purpose or by MS OS doing it's thing. Hey maybe that is our problem, MicroSoft is doing our programming for the CRD.

GD: you already posted that in the "rotella t" thread. Please don't copy and paste 5 pages of information at will. Also, could you cite where you're getting this? Post the site as a technical resource so everyone will have access to it, and perhaps it can show up as a sticky, instead of having it buried in random threads.

I have PM Manny about it just a few minutes ago, so I can take care of it for a sticky.

Since the Fram got flamed so badly, I picked up a couple of these. Any thoughts/flames/raves reviews?

Here is the link to the source that Got Diesel used for his posting and it is copyrighted and will require premission to reprint here at LOST Forum. I haven't decided as yet to seek prenission and most likely will not unless there is a lot of request for it to be posted in full here.

Now you know why I have to pay 13.50($17.28)euro a liter for oil BP oil at the dealer. Thank god I don't use the DC oil it is 28.00euro($35.85) a liter.

I've heard good things about these. It's what I used on my last change, along with Rotella T 5W-40 synthetic.
Here is a little filter study to gander about: http://wiggs.iskewl.org/filters/

Go with the OEM filters which are made in Italy, You can get a case of six of them from Hall Dodge/Jeep in Michigan. Total cost shipped is $49.90 for 6 OEM filters. The cost divided by six equates to $8.32 per filter. You can get them from Hall's eBay store:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-MOPAR- ... QQtcZphoto

I purchased this 6 filter case and it arrived promptly. The last oil change I used the WIX, but I want to go back to OEM and will do so on the next OC.

x2. I live down the road from this dealership and their a good business.

Currently have a Purolator PureOne oil filter on it and RTS 5w-40 in it. Will be doing a U.O.A. on this combination at the next oil change in 2500 Kms... Will advise then.

John.

I use Amsoil European Car Formula
Synthetic 5W-40 Motor Oil (AFL)
Read about it here:

I currently use a WIX oil filter and fuel filter.

Why Amsoil 5w-40 European engine oil and not Amsoil 5w-40 Diesel engine oil.

Is the Amsoil European engine oil better than the Amsoil Diesel engine oil?
