I am wondering what those of you that are unsatisfied with the F37 plan to do. I got my jeep back about a week ago, and I am not happy. I am still experiencing a little bit of shudder, (not nearly as bad or often as before) but who knows how it will be in 15k miles from now.

I am also not happy with the fact ( and i know a lot of others share this with me) that they have "slightly" decreased the torque.

I do not know what to do at this point, if i bug DCX enough, and they say OK, we will put old programing on, and it damages more down the road, then i have screwed myself. If i leave it the way it is with the F37, then i paid a premium for something that i now do not have.

to be honest, i don't care if its only 5lbs of torque i lost. i spent my hard earned money on this, and i want what i paid for.

/end rant

Took mine in December 19th......picked it up the 21st. My wife was driving up a 6% 2.5 mile long grade, and it shook so bad she said it felt as if it was on some interstate rumble strips. Did it a couple more times on less steep grades. Called the ol' dealer back up, dropped it off, and later found out the original F37 convertor was bad....finally got it back the 29th. After convertor #3 (two within less than one week) we figured all would be well. We took the back roads back home from the dealer (most of which can only be safely driven at 45 mph) and it did great...o/d off. A few days later, around 75 mph on I-75, it shuddered and bucked yet again. The wife was also coming back from her Mom's, and it did it around 60 mph or so once again.

My CRD (now at 24k miles) does feel weaker after the F37. Mine seems to hit 5th at 62 mph or so versus 58 mph or so before. Before, a little throttle input around those speeds would speed up the CRD. Now, it downshifts too easily and hunts gears more than it ever has. Not happy.

I'm gonna call my dealer and see about getting a DC Rep involved. I've already looked into the KY Lemon Law info in the owner's manual. I only owe around $9,244 on my CRD......pisser is, I traded in a great 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport because I'm a diesel freak (I also own a 2003 Dodge RAM 2500 HPCR CTD) and 270--280 miles per tank outta the 3.7L was about it......occasionally, I could see 300 miles per tank. I owed nothing on the 2002 KJ that was traded in on the CRD. Yep, I got more creature comforts, but I also have acquired more stress & headaches.

You're at a disadvantage as your powertrain is over at 36k.....My '05 has 7/70k.

The vehicle will probably be the subject of a class action. Daimler - Chrysler is aware of this and I believe is doing what any corporation would, drag it out as long as possible and let many owners void their warranties or take actions that will mitigate Daimler – Chrysler’s monetary reimbursement to owners.

I believe someone will convince an attorney that there is money to be earned representing the unsatisfied purchasers of these vehicles.

The dealer I purchased from is aware of my dissatisfaction with Daimler – Chrysler.
The dealer is also weighing his relationship with Daimler – Chrysler and my continued patronage in choosing him for new vehicle purchases.

I am exercising patience it will work itself out.

I too am unhappy. I had the recall done and picked it up last night. The dealer is holding back on doing anything to get me out of the Jeep. I have been in touch with an lawyer and have an appt to meet early next week. I'll keep you all updated.

I am not happy with all the time the engine spends over 2000 rpms as compared to pre recall. Also my dealer did not rerun the the transmission wiring harness correctly and it was touching the egr pipe burning through the wire that supplies power to the back up light switch. So now I have a repaired wire harness running under the jeep and god only knows what it will be exposed to. The way things are going with this thing I doubt I will have it long enough to be my problem in the future.

This problem was also mentioned about a year ago with some CRD's unaltered from the factory. Might be a good item to inspect for after getting the F37 done.

You might want to investigate the post concerning air in fuel lines. The theory suggests that this might be the root cause of the shudder issue.

It’s not likely that DCX would ever agree to put the old programming back in (at least in my opinion).

I would say that you most certainly did...

Agreed.

Here's my take. If I could do anything I wanted - I would try to sue the pants off DCX for this (just for the principal of the matter). As a practical matter however, I don't think I've got the wherewithal to pursue something like this. I can see myself getting wiped out pretty quickly trying to go up against such a large beast. Perhaps some way of hopping aboard on a class action effort will present itself down the road. I don't know. If I could figure out a way to put of a fight without getting killed in the process, I might be interested. We'll see what happens...

I'm ticked too as my previous post mentioned. This is how I'm giving this CRD back to Jeep. In VA if your vehicle has been in the shop more then 30 days it is a lemon law case. My Jeep has been in the shop a total of 36 days because they couldn't figure out why the Jeep stalled and left my wife stranded 60 miles away from the dealer. Then they couldn't figure out why the ESP light stayed on. Check your states Lemon Laws.

Well I was disappointed before the F37, now I am just pissed. I have the CRD from hell. Mines been in the shop a cumulative total of 60 days now. I have noticed lackluster performance after the F37. Not to mention I have a tranny rattle now that they cant find. I threatened Lemon Law to DCX and they gave me an extended warranty. I am afraid this isnt going to cut it. This rattle was the proverbial last straw. Right before it shifts gears, there is a rattle that sounds like a someone shaking a mental pan full change. I just want to drive this thing into a wall. They keys are always in it, if you see it do me a favor.

I have had great luck with Dodge trucks, but they are gas hogs. Not to mention I've been a lifelong Mopar man. This is the last. DCX can find some other sucker to sell junk to now. It seems they are using the public to be their testers, and at our expense. Not to mention, this vehicle is only as good as the warranty. I wouldnt even think of keeping this thing after the warranty expired. You'd go broke fixing it!

As my friend so aptly put it before he traded his 8 month old CRD in on a new Honda, "The CRD isn't an automobile, it's a full time hobby keeping it running. I need a vehicle I can drive, not an erector set."

I laughed then, but he was smarter than I thought.

The only problem with that approach for me is that, by in large, I like the vehicle. The basic design/concept seems pretty good to me - it's just the execution of a few details that is flawed. It's a small vehicle when it comes to maneuvering/parking and it's got ample room inside for passengers and stuff. It get's good fuel mileage, yet it's got 4x4/AWD and it can tow well. It drives well on the highway, but also does a good job of getting me to those off road places one travails on hiking and fishing trips. It has great visibility both over the nose and around the vehicle and it’s fun to drive. It really has a lot of qualities that no other vehicle really matches. I've been surprised at how well this vehicle does when it comes to being the jack of all trades and fitting my needs.

Bottom line - I would really rather not get rid of it. If I could have my wish - I would simply settle for a legitimate and real fix to this torque converter problem. Logic suggests that this real fix would constitute a replacement torque converter (aftermarket if necessary), that is actually appropriate for this application and would allow the original specifications to be maintained. Substituting a B.S. fix that in all appearances seems only designed to get the vehicle beyond the warranty period just doesn't cut it. Installing another inadequate torque converter and de-rating the engine (as it appears may be the case here) so it will survive to the end of the warranty period just doesn't get it.

I was on the phone earlier to day with a DCX tech in Tennese. Now they are telling me that they are wrong, and there is absolutly not torque loss. I couldn't believe they were trying to pass this off.
