| Post subject: | Block Heater Cord |
Sorry to post such dumb questions, but we just bought our “Used” CRD and wanted to know the best place to buy a heater cord for our block heater. I'm assuming the block heater itself is already built into the engine block. I just need to purchase the cord, right? Anybody know the cost? Should I buy from Jeep? Is there a certain way to route the cord to the front of the vehicle? How long is the cord? Thanks for the HELP!!!!! |

should be attached to the dipstick tube. If I remember correctly that is where mine was from the Factory. |

yup, that's where it should be. It should be zip-tied to your oil dipstick tube. You can cut the zip tie and route it where you want. I haven't used mine, so I can't comment on the best way to route it. Mine is still zip-tied to the dipstick tube. |

I pulled my block heater cord through the front grille (out of the way of the fan) and plug it in on cold nights. During the day I put the cap on the plug and leave it hanging out through the grille. It's been working fine for a few months now. ~James |

I pulled mine out the valance near the tow hook, I even saved the zip ties that they used and re-used them. Tucks up out of the way nice when its not in use, and its not hard to dig back out. K |

Awesome! Thanks for the information. I can't believe my '06 Cummins didn't come factory with it. I bought it from Dodge and paid $35 bones for it. Dodge had a cold weather Kit for the Cummins which also included a grill cover, block heater cord, and electric battery blanket. I'll check the CRD in the morning and make sure mine is there. |
