Sounds interesting, did he give you any other info or at least tell you who its coming from? I am wondering if this Torque converter problem is perhaps something they (the aftermarket) have alread taken care of in europe?

Indeed, would like to know specs/details/pricing/etc so I could decide if I'm interested. If I'm going to spend 3 or 4 figures of my own money to make this tranny reliable, I'd like to make sure it's right the first time around.

Seems the aftermarket is responding in this country as well, although not to our particular problem. Practically every aftermarket company I've checked so far is offering an upgraded TC for the 545RFE/Hemi engine combo in Dodge trucks. We're not the only ones dissatisfied with Dodge/Chrysler torque converters.

Here is an article on a VW TDI you guys might like to read and cry wishing you had this kind of power and reliability with a liter less to do it with.

Privateer Racing VW TDI

The computer chip setup for the VW is what is interesting...sounds like the same line InMotion takes

Personally, I think that having an aftermarket TC available is useful but for the short term.....30K miles or better, I'm going to expect DC to keep my CRD on the road. Who knows, maybe they have solved the problem. Now for those that chip the engine, a beefier TC is certainly in the cards but that's pretty much the case anytime you bump up the power. I know on my Blazer, the TC and tranny let go pretty quickly after taking the HP from 220 to 300.

Depends on price. If it is reasonable, I'm in.

Jason @ inmotionusa has a few vendors in Europe and can get us just about any thing or have one made but we need one to work with.

Has anyone tried the online junkyard/parting shops for a broken 545RFE TC? Maybe they have one available.
