As the owner of an early purchase (4/05) of an early build (2/05) CRD I now have just under 40k miles and I thought I would comment on my "long term test" as I am 40% of the way to the 100k mile mark where I will most likely think about a replacement. I realize that diesels have a reputation for longevity, but libertys do not.
I don't think there are many CRDs with as many/more miles than I have at present.

Other than "normal" maintenence here is my list of repairs
1k: Mats/Vent Visors
10k: New EGR
12k: New Tires (junked oem STs)
15k: Replacement Windshield (rock hit)
20k: hitch purchase (from ehitch.com)
30k: lower ball joint/f31
38k: f37
I have made no mods, or installed provent
The only cost to me was the mats, vents, tires, windshield (what ins co had me pay) and hitch.

You put new tires on voluntarily (granted, the OEM tires suck). (mine still have plenty of tread now at 12K miles.)
The Jeep didn't hurl itself at the rock, so you can't blame it for breaking its windshield.
You chose to install a trailer hitch.
F31/ball joints//F37 are preemptive recalls and "customer satisfaction" repairs to avoid something breaking.

So, ummmmm. It looks to me that the only unplanned, broken item that required fixing was the EGR. I suspect there are a few people around here who would like to be in your shoes. You've not had any other engine issues, so why shouldn't this diesel last for 250K miles or more?

So far, the only thing that outright broke on mine were the door locks 28 days after I bought it. Otherwise the only "repairs" have been the standard flashes and recalls that apply -- all warranty work. The only other expense has been the regular maintenance. Oh, and a new tire cover. And those Jeep, terry cloth seat covers.

can you say PUCKER UP!!!
1- ABS wheel sensor
6- EGR valves, sensors
4000 miles on stock tires before blow out, replaced w/silent armor 8ply wore out in 20,000 miles due to turbo lag.
new fog light lenses, due to cracking
new LBJ's
Dealer said I would void my warranty if I refused F37 recall-no problems when I took it in, they replaced the TC only. now I have the SHUDDER at 50mph under load, took it back in had the service manager go for a test drive with me--showed him the SHUDDER, picked up the libby today all that was done was a flash on TCM it stills SHUDDERS, the fluid is full and burn't need to take it back for more BS next week.

TDI4BY Turbo lag = a lull in acceleration and then a large burst of power to the drive wheels. 20,000 miles for the tread to wear down to an unsafe driving when it rains. libby all over the road. 46,000 and still climbing.

HUH?

Think it's his way saying he's been smokin' the tires on a regular basis.

I will post my very most recent findings. A squeaking noise surfaced a few days ago in the front of my engine and after troubleshooting, as I don't trust the dealers to troubleshoot because they will tell me it's normal, discovered my fan was squeaking. With the engine turned off obviously was able to spin the fan manually and noticed this squeaking noise. So either the clutch took a dive or the bearing on the fan did. Into the dealer it goes for um let me see, I think the 14th time.

Window regulators are my biggest problem so far. Both fronts, now the drivers side again, and the left rear just stopped working. One tire was bad but everything else is great.

'05 liberty, first one in Manitoba from what I was told.

0-65,00 kms no problems
65,000 kms replace stock crap ballon tires with some real tires, much better.
80,000 kms ball joint failed and EGR valve needed to be replaced.

Will keep driving it and see what happens.

33,800 miles now and pretty much just oil & filter (oil, fuel, air) changes.

Oh yeah, I had all the TSB stuff done.

So far, no big problems but let's just say I'm glad I've got a 100k extended warranty

2/05 build date. 12K miles.

One glow plug
Couple of oil changes
Couple of reflashes
Trashed the OEM tires

No real problems. I'm avoiding the t.c. "recall" as long as I can.

I'll have to look at my build date. It has to be one of the earlier ones though. The dealership took delivery of it in Feb. of 05. I have about 31K on it and it's a POS thats in the middle of Lemon Law precedings right now. I have also been informed that this one HUGE reason that the new BLUTECH MB Diesel has not been released and keeps getting pushed back.
