| Post subject: | CEL 200 miles after EGR Replacement |
Just got the Liberty CRD back after the EGR was replaced and drove it about 200 miles only to get another CEL (MIL Code P0401) for Bad Flow (same as before) Is this the way that most EGR repairs go -- two disassembly efforts for each repair? This makes for a fair amount of downtime for the vehicle (already more than my last three vehicles combined) |

Yep, my first came at 6600 miles and I had 10K by the time they got the part in. Now, 200 miles later, it is getting comical. This would make a good Dilbert comic |

Is this the way that most EGR repairs go -- two disassembly efforts for each repair? This makes for a fair amount of downtime for the vehicle (already more than my last three vehicles combined) Mechanic at my dealership know that the flow control valve goes first, but DC makes him replace the EGR first. |

Thanks BlackLibertyCRD, I think I will pass that idea along to the mechanics down our way. I've been trying to get the folks at the Dealership to take a look at L.O.S.T -- perhaps good ideas like this will encourage them. Again Thanks! |

Which dealership do you use? |

The same CEL will be thrown if it is truly the EGR OR the EGR Flow Control Valve (a.k.a Throttle Flow Valve). DCX should replace them both at the same time as a preventative measure for not having to go back again. |

Also, depending on how long you drove it after the EGR went south, you'll shortly get another CEL for one or more of the glow plugs going bad. If this happens, word of advice - go ahead and pop for getting all 4 plugs changed out at once. Otherwise, you could be talking up to 4 separate trips to the dealer just to change glow plugs one at a time. |

Thanks DZL_LOU and Retmil46 for your observations. With the folks replacing the EGR control valve soon, if it happens again, I will suggest the glow plugs. |
