Lets see how many people are happy and are not happy, Please post how many times you've been without your Jeep from some repairs, I think with all the negative, people forget the positives. Please try to keep this simple and short, and don't hijack the poll.

I would have picked something between "It's a car", and "Very Happy", such as, "Happy it ain't broke, yet."

IF there weren't so many impending failures destined to meet me when I least expect it (per Murphy's Law) I would be in the top tier happy happy joy joy category.

I can't answer yet...too many outstanding issues. A better poll might be something to the effect:

Keeping my CRD

Selling my CRD to first offer

Want DC to buyback my CRD

Going to handle the Tranny Issue Myself

I have to agree. It has only been in the shop once in 11K miles other than the recalls. I have some concerns, but either I got a good one or it just agrees with my driving style.

Overall I'm mostly happy w/ the vehicle. I've had it since 2/2005 and have had it in the shop for a total of 15 days (brakes/brakes/tranny-stumble) since then. I've accumulated only 22k on it in that time.

It gets good mileage, is a comfortable ride, is small enough to be maneuverable, and easily tows my 4500lb motorcycle trailer. There isn't another vehicle out there that I could replace it with. The others are either lumped into the "horrible mileage" or "can't tow" categories. The only thing (almost) close to it would be the VW Toureg, but @ $70k... mighty pricey.

Over thirty days in first year for repairs regarding drivability and brakes alone. No longer drives as spirited as when new. I would not have bought vehicle as it presently drives.

I guess all it would take is one unfixable scenario to make me change my mmnd though.

Me, I really like it and am not to concerned abour DC and the TC issue. If they don'e have a fix by the time I go out of warrenty for a few hundred buck, I do it myself. The Tranny is probably not a problem except for possibly the pump so I'll just toss a kit in and be done with it. Overall, the issues are pretty minor in the long haul.

It's leased.

That's all I gotta say. ;)

I'll make my decision in around 500 or so days. I can give them the keys or I can keep them. Personally I find the engine a little louder than I expected it to be in the wintertime. Kinda irks me. (Yeah I know it's still a diesel) These diesel prices are driving me nuts though.

6 months and 12,000 miles - been in the shop once - replaced the TC (not for the F37 recall, it was leaking around the weld) and also had the software updated. Haven't really had any issues with it, except the fuel mileage hasn't been as good as I would like (around 22 mixed, and 25 has been the highest on a highway trip)

I'd do it again.

We always take the F350 when we go out of town. This is the first time I have ever had a new car(CRD) that I was afraid to take on a trip. Other than recalls we have never had to take it in, but with all the TC problems we just don't trust it.

Compared to what I've read on this forum, overall I've been one of the "lucky ones" so far.

My CRD has not left me stranded and I've racked up 34,500 miles on it since I purchased it a year ago (today). I've all the customer satisfaction notice work done and I don't really hold this against DCX.

I'm a little dissapointed in my fuel mileage and I'm dissapointed in the Liberty's air intake system. Based upon my oil analysis, I'm changing air filters every 5,000 miles and my oil will get changed between 5,000 and 6,250 miles. I consider this to be poor.

I realize that DCX really considered the CRD to be a test case for future diesels; I really hope they learned something when developing future diesels.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!!!!
I wouldn't worry to much about the TC, I run and pull the heck out of mine with zero tranny problems, and little else to mention after the EGR change out. Saw the first ULSD at a station the other day.

If they could get my EGR thing fixed I would love mine. The only problem with mine is 6 EGR failures in 36k miles.

I would like to participate, but its a bit like Ben Franklin's desciption of democracy (2 wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch) -- I will choose Liberty (a heavily armed lamb contesting the vote).

We need a few more descriptors that could not be used by DCX to say "see, 68% of CRD owners are very happy with their purchase." -- basically making L.O.S.T. into a shill for DCX.

A more descriptive item, based on what I have read here in the text, is "Happy with the Diesel Liberty performance, disillusioned with the poor reliability." The fact that it requires so much time in the shop now and will need it after the warranty runs out makes most of us respond like dirtmover's message before me.

That was the intended purpose of Ehh.... sorry for the confusion, we'll have another poll in a week or a month to keep the opinions fresh.

I am happy with mine (02/06 build date)! I haven't had any problems with mine. It went into "limp home" mode once, but I think it might have been an EGR problem (I think I got some bad fuel, also it was prior to ULSD). I started using some Power Service and never encountered another problem. Now that USLD is here in TX, I only fill up with it.

The only dealer work performed on mine has been:

F21 (Reprogram Body Control Module)
F23 (Lower Ball Joint Recall)
F31 (?)
