You can buy one out of state and register it for a year then legal in Cal. That's what I'm doing in Vegas.

Jeep sold more CRD's in the first 1/4 (ordered sales) then they had planned to even build. I read somewhere that they sold about 1500 more of the roughly 5000 they had planned to build for '05 models.

Part of the D/C comment was they partly misread the market area for sales and flooded areas were small SUV was small market.

Can't be that many sitting around... DCX says 7560 CRD's were sold through the end of October 05. Since they produced about 8300 05 CRD's, that leaves ~ 740 - out of that number, some had to end up as loaners, test mules and demo's. 91% sold in 10 months is excellent, especially since they originally forcast 5000 for the entire 05 production run.

Btw, I've seen exactly one other CRD in my city, and only then because I know the owner.

The dealer here sold all CRD's they were allotted, except one $32k Limited model they dealer traded to dealership in St Louis. Even the owner of the dealership bought one for personal use and he even titled the CRD, so I guess he plans on owning it for a while. His is an identical twin to ours and the window stickers showed same $25,830 and Stone White color and seccessive serial numbers.
