Has anyone already looked into this or figured out if the 2006 CRD or 2005 CRD purchase in '06 would qualify for this??

I'd love to get a tax break to subsidize the loss of MPGs due to ULSD I'm experiancing. Of course, the change in milage could be some other demon in the CRD, but I've noticed the drop in milage since ULSD.

The bill as originally proposed, allowed for both gas-electric hybrids and T2B10 diesel vehicles tax credits. This would have allowed the CRD and VW TDI diesels to qualify. When the Union of Concerned Scientists heard of the diesel credit proposal, they launched a protest and lobbied against the diesel credit and insisted on its removal. Only by compromising to allow for future T2B5 diesel tax credits, a compromise for the future, were diesel proponents able to keep the diesel credit provision.

This is a testimony to the lobby power of a few select groups making decisions for hundreds of millions of US citizens. At the time this bill was passed, there wasn't a diesel vehicle available for sale that could pass T2B5 emissions requirements. There still aren't any for sale, but may be sometime in 07 or 08. So the "tax credit" for clean diesels excluded every shipping diesel available, but allowed the possibility for future diesels to obtain it. Only gas-electric hybrids and possibly some CNG vehicles qualified.

Yes, we should get a credit. After all, our CRDs are pumping out less carbon dioxide than most hybrid gas vehicles. But we're not gonna get one, per Ranger's post.

unless you are running a high % of biodiesel then you are pumping out more co2 than any hybrid on the road. Except the Escape.

I'm trying to remember where I read it... It was a while ago. A comparison of Co2 between a diesel engine, an efficient gas engine and a hybrid had the diesel with the lowest Co2 per miles driven. Now this is gonna bug me for the rest of the day.

It isn't the CO2 that generally pisses off the other folks, its the sulfer and particulates. BNut with ULSD and some BIoDiesel, should we be pretty darn near clean and qualify?

Hmmm, maybe I should sample my pipe gas on 100% B-D and then apple for the hell of it. Come to think of it, anybody know where I can get a full emissions test that would satisfy the requirements? Could I just send them a standard one?
