Post subject: | Opinions & Help Deciding Between 2 Extended Warranty Opt |
I have decided to purchase a DC Factory Extended Warranty from Chryslerwarranties.com today as I've discovered that trading in for a more reliable vehicle will cost me way more in the long run than the cost of a warranty. Problem is, I can only afford a max of about $1700 for a warranty. I also am not sure as to how the dudctible works. It states that it's paid per repair visit (i.e. if the transmission gets replaced, then goes south 1,000 miles later I'd have to pay another deductible). I can afford a 7yr/85k mi/$0deduct at $1,635 - but puts me in a long term bind for mileage. Chrysler Maximum Care Plan. I can afford a 7yr/100k mi/$100 deduct at $1,745 - but puts me into the deductible delima. Chrysler Maximum Care Plan. Or, buy nothing since I have the 7/70 powertrain and diesel engine component warranty already..... Also, I'll have to find a worthy dealer - but I think that can be achieved as I've had local support here in finding some other than the one that's really burnt me up. Opinions please! ![]() |

I think I got the 6yr 100K $50 deductible - I also paid quite a bit more than that though (I bought the MaxCare protection - they had a special for 3 years no interest) - this was a Chrysler warranty that is supposed to be good at ANY Jeep Dealership ... It covers EVERYTHING except for the tires and brake shoe linings IIRC. I've also had my CRD since around the 1st of July and have 13k miles on it ... So I'll run out of mileage before I run out of time. I wanted that warranty in case any other expensive stuff went wrong - my window regulators are already making some odd noises .... |

Well the 7/85 won't help you much since you have then 7/70 factory. You are usually better off to go with the 100,000 and a small deductible...as long as it gets you a rent a car...included. |

I would go with the $100 deductible plan. It is per repair visit, but you shouldn't have to pay the $100 again if you take it in for say....an EGR...and then get it back only to have to return to the dealer a day or two later. In other words, if you take it in multiple times for the same issue you should only be out $100 as they never fixed the problem in the first place. But really, all that extra money is getting you is another 30k miles worth of protection. I don't think it is worth it to be honest. My 06 only has the factory 3/36 and I didn't purchase a warranty yet. I probably won't. If it is worth the extra money to get another 30k worth of protection then go for the $100 deductible plan. |
