| Post subject: | Camp Jeep Engineering Roundtables |
I just got the email announcing Camp Jeep July 26-28 in Charlottesville, VA. I have never been to one of these, but was struck with a thought as I looked through the planned events. Would this be a good place for CRD owners to have their concerns regarding the vehicles shortcomings addressed (Engineering roundtables)? I am one of those CRD owners who love the vehicle and have not had any problems so far (13,000 miles), but am constantly reading about problems that others are having. I often wonder when/if I am going to start experiencing the same problems. I am not sure if I will be able to go, but wondered if these "roundtables" might be a place to talk to Jeep "face-to-face" since I see so many ridiculous responses to letters that concerned CRD owners are writing to Chrysler. Just wondering. |

I have been to numerous (eight) Camp Jeeps. My family enjoys them and I have had the opprtunity to attend several engineering roundtables. The roundtables allow for a dialog between Jeep owners and Corporate reps. In the Liberty forum CRD owners and gas owners are mixed together and generally CRD owners are in the minority (I was the only CRD owner in the Liberty forum I attended last year). Generally what I've found is that the forum is about how you like your Liberty but then focuses on future issues like what options should be offered, etc. The forums are guided by a moderator (with an agenda) so they don't deviate too much from the planned discussion topics. I know members here (including me) have expressed both good things and bad things about their CRD's but I'm not so sure these roundtables are a good place to express our "concerns". I go to Camp Jeep to have a good time and I like to keep things positive when I'm on vacation. If I have some concerns about my CRD that I want to share with the Jeep folks, I probably won't do it at one of these roundtables. |

Good idea, but never having been myself, couldn't offer an opinion if you'd even get the chance. Sounds as if it'd at least be worth a try. Opinions from those who have been to Camp Jeep? Would the head guys with Jeep actually talk with CRD owners and give a real answer? Or as soon as you mention "CRD" and "F37" would you be branded a troublemaker and politely asked to leave the event? Had that happen to an engineering friend, covering an industry conference on Electric Vehicles for an electronics industry magazine. Tried asking a certain company rep some pointed questions about why they quit leasing their advanced electric vehicle in a certain state. After his 2nd question, they just pretended he wasn't there. Later on, another rep from the same company came up to him privately and told him pointedly to stay at least 50 feet away from any of their company's displays or he would be escorted out of the building and banned from the conference, he had been identified to the organizers as a known troublemaker, and that he was NOT welcome at any of the functions being given for the other journalists. |
