We are now a 3 liberty family. The middle daughter is driving my 02 libby that has 210,000 miles on it. The transmission was rebuilt at 175,000 miles...other than that everything is like is was when new. I just purchased the 05 CRD used yesterday with 17,000 miles on it. Honestly, if I had read this board before, I might have been scared away, but it's too late now. I love everything about it and I'm sure I will be glued to the forums for a while. Honey, bring me some pepto bismol. ![]() I drive 65,000 plus miles a year, so I'll probably be a pretty good guinea pig for high mileage crd reliability. Nice to meet all of you...back to reading the forums. ![]() |

Welcome aboard! I have had few problems,, don't let the chicken littles scare you. Joe, the previous owner of her CRD may have traded for any number of reasons from service problems to a gambling habit. But as usual, some here always assume there is some hidden catastrophy lurking just beneath the hood. |

I'm with you. Maybe they drive mostly stop and go city, and didn't like the turbo lag. Who knows? |

![]() ![]() I will make a bit of a point on the high mileage thing... Just my opinion, but most engines (and specifically diesels) don't do as well until they are on the road. I think long trips could be one of the factors why there are those of us with an 05 with the original EGR and FCV. My commute is 30 miles one way, so the engine gets warmed up and I get an opportunity to "poar the coals to it" a time or two. ![]() Welcome to the group! Do we still need a goat for the initiation ritual??? ![]() |

![]() Thanks to checking this board, I checked the vin "No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist" I try to do most the maintenance on my cars. The audi was such a pain to get to for oil changes that I used a vacuum pump to siphon the oil out through the dip stick tube. Actually, I was very pleased with the results. Anybody discussed that here? I'll keep checking the forums for that issue. I used Mobile1 0-40 in the audi, so at least my left over oil wont go to waste. 400 mile road trip tomorrow, followed by 700 more by Friday.... crossing fingers and saying a little prayer Thanks for the welcome guys. By the way, you seem a lot nicer than the audi forum peeps |

Welcome aboard. Just don't listen to those not manly enough to drive the crd and are scared by every little noise (eeek a mouse!!!, etc). Drive it as you want. I have 42k miles. It starts every time, goes through the snow easily (when you change out the awful oem tires), handles mild off roading, and is everything a Liberty is, or is not. |

vtdog, Didn't you used to defend the OEM tires? Widowmaker, Welcome to the group. |

By law the dealership is not to put a car on the used car lot if there is an existing recall pending on the vehicle. The fact that you found it to not have any pending recalls is good. |

I have never defended the OEM tires. I junked mine at 12k (which would have been oct/nov '05-before most even bought a crd) after first slipping in the rain and then being unable to get out of a parking lot in 4wd with about 2 inches of snow when others with fwd were having no problem. |

15K and I dumped the OEM tires as they had 2mm tread left. I know have Kumho 798 that are H-speed rated. I am the resident US spec owner in europe. I have had no EGR issues todate. I had the tranny shudder a few times but that was it. I love mine and tow and drive autobahn speeds with it. Welcome, but I question you trading in a A4 for a Jeep. |

Just checked into the hotel. 429 miles today with average 26.7 mpg and yes, I love the crd. I did notice a shudder on several occasions when decelerating at 55-60 mph, but I would accelerate and it would go away. Not a great surprise. The gas gauge took forever to move from Full...I was afraid it was broken. As far as OEM tires...I will speak with experience and authority...THEY SUCK, if they put the Goodyears that I had on my other 2 liberty's. Luckily, these have already been replaced. ![]() |

I drive alot, 42000+ in less than 2 years and I am on original EGR FCV. I agree that you will probably see fewer problems with all over your mileage. I commute about 60 a day and travel high speed 70-83 for long periods of time ( to salt lake city and sacramento) |
