Post subject: | Liberty Oil - API C* vs MS-10725 |
Hi All, I see there have been many posts about oil for the Libby, but I was wondering does anybody know what the differences are between the MS and API rating systems? The Liberty manual says API-CF certified and meets MS-10725 requirements. So what does that mean ![]() Do higher API certifications like CH-4, CI-4+ or CJ-4 automatically meet the MS-10725 requirement OR is the MS requirement something entirely different OR is the MS requirement just some warranty crap from DC that really doesn't matter ![]() |

As for CF...any C H-I-J will meet and/or beat CF Chrysler Material Standard is just another way to describe oil characteristics. |

Yeah that is basically what I have read. But how are they different? or are they not different? Will a CJ automatically meet the MS-10725 rating as well ![]() |

Will a CJ automatically meet the MS-10725 rating as well ![]() Yes CJ will meet or exceed that standard. The API standard is the government standard whereas the MS is the Chrysler group manufacturer's standard, from what I understand. Most major automakers keep their own standards for lubricants and whatnot ![]() |
