Post subject:  Info on the Liberty CRD

Hello :)

As a new owner of a Jeep liberty CRD limited as of sept first  I did some research and found this:

http://www.allpar.com/model/jeep/liberty-2005.html

Very interesting info about the engine, 5 spd auto ... etc

I read a lot of posts about lift and i can not find any 2" spring front and rear to lift the liberty. I am not too crazy about the 2 1/2 i heard you do some damage to the cv boot . If anyone as some info , please let me know.

Later have more questions on the front diff and center diff

Congratulations, and welcome to LOST!

You shouldn't have any trouble with the more heavily-tested 2 1/2" lifts out there. However, AFAIK the only tested lift that works well on the CRD is the Daystar spacer lift. Spring lifts generally aren't strong enough for the CRD, which is quite a bit heavier than a gas KJ.

Spacer lifts work on the CRD because you keep the original CRD springs.

I would imagine that other spacer lifts would work well, also, including (my personal favorite) the RRO 2.125" Combo lift.

Post subject:  the RRO kit sound nice

Hi ,
Thanks for the welcome. I went to see your links and pictures , very nice. I like the tank shid plate, it looks very heavy duty...
I don't have any under body protection and was thinking getting the all set from the factory... is it a good choice? are they strong enough? I think keeping the originsl spring on the CRD and add a spacer is a good option.

I asked my jeep dealer and they told me they could mount four new springs for the CRD : 2" in front and 1.75" for the rear and i can keep the factory shocks. My problem is, they want 1,800 for part and labor ... This sound really high ???

I was wondering if it's possible to get a limited diff for the center ..... no one said anything about this yet. For the rear a know, the front many people say to stay away from it because of the alu diff housing not strong enough...

Mmm...it depends on what you plan to do in your KJ. If you're CERTAIN that you'll only be doing very light offroading, then the Mopar skids would be fine to defend from flying rocks and debris.

If you really want to have some fun (maybe join us for Moab '06? :)), I'd suggest:
- Mopar engine skid
- Rusty's transfer case skid
- All-J SuperSkid (transmission skid)
- All-J BoulderBars
- Kilby fuel tank skid

Do a search on "skid" and you'll find some interesting threads.

You don't have to run out and do all of it at once...a lot of us enjoy adding a mod here and there over the course of a year or two. Just understand your limitations and wheel it.

That's pesos, right? If not, look around. Find a dedicated 4x4 shop, or lasso a buddy who likes to wrench his ride. I can't imagine paying more than $500 for a lift install, and the Daystar spacer lift is only $300.

And don't plan on keeping the factory shocks. Shell out $100 for a pair of Rancho RSX 17004 shocks. You can keep the stock front struts, though.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "limited diff for the center"...but I think these links should help:

Post subject:  thanks for the feed back

Thank you for the info. I read that few people had problem with the adjustment of the from suspension after they installed the 2 1/2" spacer. Like aligment, pitch or something else that was just on the limit of the spec... Did you have any problem with this kind of things ......

Thank you for the link about the fron and rear diff and all the links for the body armor ... that hepled a lot, noe i just need to save to get all of this About the central diff

About the center diff: (being a little picky here now )

When you are in part time 4x4 the center diff is locked and youthe power to the front and rear 50% /50% and this is nice for off road on slipery surface. If you go to the full time position, now you have the center diff that is open. The front axel and rear axel can turn at different speed. Butin this position if one axel loses traction then this axel will tall all the power and you get stuck. I know it a little extrem and you can say well go back to part time ....... In my case i am concern when driving on snow or under the rain. It would be nice to have a center diff "LSD" so you would never lose completly the traction to that one axel. Like on an Audi or subaru.
I know it's a little bit extrem and i am being picky but I just want to get the full torque and power to the road , anytime any where.

Other question is , on mondy I get the GPS install. I got it with the jeep but it was not in stock at that time , so they will put it in monday morning. Does anyone have this GPS unit?? does it work well??? I have not found any post abut it, just being curious
