For everyone that had the f37 done, is your final shift at 62mph?

Thanks!

I haven't had it done, nor do I need it, but my final shift/lock up is at 64 mph.

Ditto. My shift points changed when the F31 TSB was done.

The F37 has to to with our relatively inferior torque converters. The lower ball joint customer satisfaction notification is an entirely different matter.

My final shift usually occurs between 62 and 65 mph.

Yea, I know. I was confused when he said F31.

The F31 also has nothing to do with the lower ball joints. It was the first attempt to fix our torque converter issue though reprogramming. I had both the F31 and F37 performed and may still own my CRD when F999,999 is announced stating that everything behind the engine is getting replaced. :?

Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't familiar with the F31, that's why I put a question mark there? I was asking for understanding.

Ha! :-)r

I haven't had the F37 done an my final shift depends on how hard I'm hitting the fuel pedal. On cold mornings, my final shift is after the engine temp idiot guage gets almost to the halfway mark, no matter what speed I'm doing.

Yes,
62/63 mph on the last upshift. Can then pull it down to @ 56 mph before it downshifts on its own. Need a passing gear??, bump the O/D switch.

Just got mine back today, seems to be the magic number. Bet they picked 100kph as the lock up point.

Here is what I got going on...

I have a 2005 with the F31 flash done last summer. I thought that the F31 was the F37 flash without the hardware but I now believe this is incorrect. I scored a TCM from a junkyard from a vehicle with a build date 11/05. I thought, in error, that it would not have the F37 as I took the VIN# and plugged it into Jeep's website and the vehicle had a BCM flash, ball-joint, and F37 recall, all that were not done. Because of that, I thought that the vehicle was wrecked prior to the F37 coming out and was safe. Now, I believe the F37 was already done on the Jeep from the factory for a build date this late.

Here are my observations so far...

1. WOT on my F31 shifts exactly at 4000 RPM down to 3000 RPM at 25, 50 and 80mph.
2. WOT on the F37 shifts at 3900 RPM down to 3300 RPM at 25, 3800 RPM down to 3200 RPM at 46 and 3800 RPM down to 3300 RPM at 80mph. It is exactly as the video from Milou_1968
3. Final shift on F37 is 62mph.
4. Final shift on F31 is 58mph.

There was a definite change when the F31 was done to my Jeep. It revved a little higher with steady acceleration but I didn't notice any power loss at the time. With the F37 module plugged in, under steady acceleration, the RPM's are at a constant 2500 RPM and there is less power off the line. This is judged strictly seat of the pants and squeal of my tires. The F37 does shift much smoother; the gear changes are almost seamless. But I know that by shifting this way, the tranny is losing alot of energy by heating up tranny fluid. Once I plug the F31 back in, the differences between the two should be more noticeable. I plan to see how much a dyno is and I'll compare the two modules then so we can have a true picture as to what is happening to the torque and hp graphs. I want to take a video of the F31 also so that all can see the differences to Milou's F37 shift.

Hope this helps...

Dave

I had read in the past that some of the 2005's were doing their final shift in the 50s mph. It sounds like they just put in the specs that they already have in the 2006s. Help me understand this. I would think it better to get into OD at a lower speed, but maybe it was making them lug too much. I rarely get to be in 5th because the speed limit around here is low and I don't speed. I wonder if it would have saved all the TC, if the driver had just turned off the OD button? Less fuel economy, and not what thet were designed for but what if?

Driving with the O/D off is a common practice among the gassers, and coming from a gas Liberty, is how I drive my Jeep. The thinking is that you will be in a higher RPM band and thus wasting more gas. But, the band is right around our max torque and one would actually use less gas becaus it would need less power to get moving. Also, there is less shifting in the tranny with the O/D off and you don't get the wild swings in RPM as it switches back and forth from gear to gear. Once I hit around 52mph, I turn the O/D back on and all is well.

Inmotion is working on a program for the tcm on the crd, I think we could get them to change the shift point to origional if enough of us show interest. :)
