This may have been talked about before, but will a scangage2 work with the CRD all the time? I have tried one from a friend and it worked about half the time, is there a trick to get them to work all the time? Thanks.

I contacted Ron Delong at linear-logic.com last November and he indicated that there was a TSB to fix the problem but could not be specific. This post may help. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... age#130302

This is mentioned in their incompatibility page:

Jeep Liberty with the diesel engine does not report fuel use or trip functions and some of the gauges.

Somebody call?

The info on the Scangauge page is slightly inaccurate. It works but the computer system in the CRD stops talking to whatever is plugged in. It can't keep track of fuel use for an entire tank so Dist to Empty and things like that are useless. It's not a problem with the Scangauge, it's a problem with the way DC implemented how the computers feed data to the data port. When working, the MPG is pretty close. To answer your question, no, it doesn't work all the time. Sometimes it works for an hour, sometimes 5 minutes. No pattern that I can figure out.

It does scan for codes and deletes them, use that too much. It might be time to send them an email to spark some interest in reprogramming these to work with the CRD.

Someone mentioned a computer called the Dashhawk. They claim to be CRD compatible but I think they haven't left it in long enough for the CAN bus to shut down. Dashhawk has a blurb about cutting off pin 13 on their connector for the Dodge Hemi applications. I think the Hemi uses the same goofy setup as the CRD. I will mention this in my email to see what Scangauge thinks about this.

What would the best scan tool be for say $500 or less?
