I will venture a guess and say 23 mpg easy. |

This might be just the thing to get our CRD over 375 mile per tank. Probably worth 75 per tank. What a great lucky find. |

I think it was determined that since the EGR isn't (normally) on at high constant revs/speed (correct me if I am wrong), that the increase in mpg will be on the city mpg side. Which is good because my wife uses this around town mostly, with a darn heavy foot, so we'll see the benefit. I'm filling it today and I'll do a test on winter blend (oldnavy understands, apparently only the men in the house understand how to DO that!). 'course it dempends on the weather and how much the heater is on. At last fill-up it was only modded for 1/2 the tank, and I guessed at 1-2 mpg increase. We'll have to test many more times. But the mpg increase is only icing on the cake. Its how it drives that matters!!!! |

Under what conditions are you only getting 375 miles per tank? We generally get about that on winter fuel when only driving in town, but during summer it usually gets to 400+ miles before fueling required with all city driving. 18 mpg is pretty good around town for a 4000 lb SUV, my buddy's new Toyota FJ is averaging 14 mpg just driving in town. By the way he is really babying the thing to get that good he says, his first tank was 13 mpg he said with normal driving in town.
Our best distance was 600+ miles last spring on a road trip with TC locked at 65 MPH except where speed limite was 55 mph and never about those speeds by more then 2 MPH for the trip. |

I just got 29mpg over a 290 mile highway stretch. This was on winter blend fuel. Avg speed was 70-75mph. My previous best was on summer fuel, driving 65 - got 27mpg. I think I could break 31mpg on summer fuel going 65mph. |

Didn't do mine until I was at 3/4 tank (190 miles), plus ended up dumping at least a couple quarts of fuel flutzing around with the fuel filters and mounting head. Did my normal commute to work on secondary roads and part thru town (45 and 55 mph), with quite a few short trips (10 miles or less) thrown in. Even at that, low fuel light came on yesterday at 470 miles, took 19 gallons, came in just a hair under 25 MPG for the entire tank, on winter blend ULSD. |

Ditto. 1mpg doesn't sound like a lot, but its still a 5% increase. |

I'm getting the same as Darby; 1-1.5mpg increase track testing a simulated commute interstate driving (stop and go up to 30mph back to stop). |

375 is typical around town mileage, very little highway if any. Throw in a little highway and it will hit 400. This is with the lift and 255/75/16 tires. I imagine the lift and tires are good for a 2-3 mpg hit. Typically the EVIC will display 21 to 21.5, with calculations being more like 19.5 mpgs. Filled up and reset the EVIC and half way into the tank so far, EVIC is displaying 24.5 so looks very promising so far. This is in addition to much better road manners as well, so it will be staying this way. I could never figure out why the Rotella T Synth coming out of my 2003 DMAX after 7k to 10k miles was still honey colored and the same oil out of the Liberty looks like tar after 500 miles. Guess it is the blasted EGR valve at fault for contaminating the oil with piles of soot and I would bet doing nothing to extend engine life. |

I noticed that my CRD was a little noisier when I left the office last night and there was less turbo lag. I also noticed that my EVIC picked up about 1 MPG better than normal between last night and returning to work this AM and I had a CEL. Popped the hood and somehow my MAF had become disconnected. Somehow I will need to get around to fixing that. Maybe I will do that after a longer trip just for comparison sake.
