What's BEST to clean it?

My dealer tried cleaning mine when the check engine light came on. It didn't work for long. A week later they replaced it.

Your usually safe with carb cleaner, cause it's made for things intake related.

Sometimes they just fail, but most of the time just a good cleaning is all they need. Unless you have an EGR that is failing and loading you up with extra soot.

The only reason I didn't mention anything about buying something saying it is safe for rubber an plastic is everything I looked at had that statement on the can. I don't think Autozone or the other big brands sell anything that has a harmful effect on rubber due to rubber brake lines, or it has something to do with EPA one. My bet is on the EPA.

I just used Gumout Carb/Choke cleaner with no problems; just sprayed until clean no brush. Bit of advice though; take care to keep the crud you are removing off you and your clothes as it's really nasty dirty hard to wash out stuff. You can imagine how I know.
