Factory optima doesnt seem to be taking a charge, I have heard in the past that they do not respond well to being discharged, keep in mind this thing sat for a few months with a totally drained battery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What the heck are these lights(didnt come with owners manual)? ![]() ![]() ![]() BOOOYAH: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Spare has a bad leak, tried blowing air into the de-beaded tire, too much gap to blow it back on, I need to get the gas can and get it seated again. ![]() |

did you buy it for a rebuild? LOL i was looking at the pics thinking "hmm i wander if the EGR is still good...." lol This went into the auction inventory back in late jan after our bad dec/jan snows, I suspected it slide, hit something like a curb on the left front, which then caused the rollover. This HAD to have rolled in nice soft snow to damage only sheet metal and not pillar and windshield frame damage. Yes rebuild, relatively minor repairs and cost for me, cheapest legal way I can think of to get a CRD. |

There is a shelf in the jocky box at the top that you really can't see from a sitting position. I bet you will find the manual there where it supposed to be in a nice olive canvas cover. That will tell you what all the lights mean. I forget the lightening bolt but the red one on the bottom is to let you know when the glow plugs are ready. |

Ok, factory optima battery was junked, took the battery out of my cherokee and tossed it in there, cranked right over. No start yet. Searched on how to purge air. Pumped little pumpy thingy about 50 or 60 times, finally fuel came out. Cranked engine, after a few sec of cranking it "fired" right up, shut it off right away because garage was closed. Opened door, started it up, ran for 20 secs, turned it off to make a phone call to the old man telling him I had it running, turn around and see garage engulfed by huge cloud of deisel smoke. Run get camera, take pics, hope nieghbors dont notice. plugged in block heater, ill leave it on awhile and then crank it tomorrow |

K No reason to do that on a good body I wanted/still want to do that to my cherokee, though I need to wait for a completely destroyed libby for that. |

What and odd little pocket. If you ever want to mess with someone just hand them the drivers manual and ask them to put it in the glove box. It will not fit in the glove box, only in that pouch... and it will drive your passenger nuts trying to get it in the glove box. Great fun. |

Could all the smoke have been caused by some aged diesel? It had been sitting for a long time? And my '06 has a squiggly glow plug light. The solid red light is the alarm indicator (Security Group). That light may also illuminate if the actual Sentry Key is not present. The ( ) with the lighting bolt is a fault light for the electronic throttle. |

The ( ) with the lighting bolt is a fault light for the electronic throttle. Ya, the owners manual says the squiggly orange light is the glow plug, and the red LED is the sentry key light. Well after running it a little the smoke has cleared and it appears "normal"(not sure what the status quo is for the diesel exhaust, but it seems ok now) I replaced the air filter, when it turned over oil all ran out into the filter, it was just all gummed up. I think some of the smoke was oil burning off from running out of places it was not used to or suppose to be, and the choked air filter all contributed. |

I would say since it "rolled" there was probably a lot of oil where it should not be. |

The only time I've seen smoke out of our CRD was when it was COLD (under 30) for about a minute, and not much even then, and whenever you stomp on it after babying for about a week. Other than that its clear as any new Gasoline vehicle. K |

At idle, you shouldn't see any smoke come from the exhaust... maybe a little upon startup, but idling... no. This is the most you should see coming out of the exhaust, and only when cold... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 3711&hl=en |

How do you know the frame isnt bent? I mean when it hit something with the front tire and then flipped over wouldnt that bent the frame in the front? What are you going to do about the roof? |
