Okay so I actually opened up the main Owners Manual the other day and noticed that it includes checking the boost solenoid filter and replacing it as needed. Since I have been going by the check list in the separate maintenance schedule book I have never done this. Anybody know where it is located ? I did a google search and edmunds or car and driver forum discussion somebody stated it was on the back of the air box inline on a rubber hose. Can't wait till I get home from work tomorrow to pull and clean my IAT sensor, will be interesting to see how much crap is on it after 35,000, would like to check the boost solenoid filter at the same time. I have not heard of what you are talking about before, but I did notice a clear little plastic filter just behind the airbox attached to what appear to be vacumn lines. |

Thats it. It not hard to find once you have an idea where to look. Pass. side behind airbox...it attaches facing downwards. Looks sort of like a clear fuel filter you would see on a lawnmower. |

This is not something that need to be replaced under normal conditions but just every 20k to 30k miles, unless you can see it is becoming dirty. I checked ours again at 20k miles and it was pristine looking, I am buy one today to put on the MB because it is the same size for the hose fitting.
All that said if you feel better by changing them every 6k miles, then by all means do so. It can't hurt, you may need to replace the vacuum line sooner then normal however. Still no big deal. |

Anybody got a part # off hand for the filter. Unfortunately I don't trust the local dealers parts monkeys. Is there a good online parts break down like there is for most motorcycle brands? |
