| Post subject: | Finally EGR |
Well I was heading to Kaiserslauhtern on A63 at about 110mph and a car pulled out. No big deal I just mashed on the brakes a little harder than normal. The front dipped down farther than normal and I got back on the throttle. I normally look at the drivers rear mirror to see whats going on behind. When I did I saw a poof fo blue smoke come from the exhaust. I thouh hmm strange maybe the oil shifted tot he front and bathed one of the pistons. I then looked at the dash and notice the CEL was on. WTH? So I slowed and pulled off the a-bahn. Checked everything and everything looked and sounded good. Power was still there. Finished my day and got to the dealer at 1730 so they could run a scan on it. Sure enough the EGR. Open Circuit EGR something something. Funny the machine is in English. So anyhow I know have an appoint ment in 3 weeks to get the EGR replaced. I will try and get photos of it. |

I'm still impressed that the CRD will do 110 mph. How many miles (km) do you have. |

I don't know how fast mine will go, but I have to work to keep my speed from creeping up to 80mph. Thank god for cruise control. 80 seems to be the CRD's "happy place" |

My max-speed is 100MPH, and I'm sure it had a LOT more left in it. |

jinstal: why not try disconnecting the MAF (the Off Road Mod) and experimenting with the fun new power? This is a good as time as any. If you like the ORM, when you get a new EGR, you can continue to do the ORM and never worry about replacing it again. |

That's kinda weird. Mine would just make a terrible racket after I would turn off the car. I never got the CEL. |

I will try it. start, disconnect the MAF, drive, reconnect MAF and turn off right? MY CRD is Drag Limited to 121 speedo reading with H-speed rated tires. BTW the Cruise is limited to 140kph across the board, e-spec and US. |

Dont you hate that? My nissan is the same way, though you can bump it up to about 95 by hitting the accel. |

This doesn't support the theory that ULSD will eliminate the EGR failures here. From what I understand, German fuel is of very high quality. Do you have trouble getting the U.S. spec parts over there? IIRC the Euro CRD has a different EGR setup. |

No I have aGREAT and I mean GREAT dealer. I have just disconnected the MAP all together and it works just fine. I have noticed that a 1/4 of a tank seems to last alot longer now. I seem to have a little more steam getting to 100+. Still not sure about it but I am taking my time lol. |

Well it looks like SOMEONE ordered/shipped the wrong part. So now I am day 3 without the Jeep. I now have a 2007 Citroen C2 1.4 Comfort Edition 3dr B-series car. The Jeep is supposed to be fixed by tomorrow. When i did notice in the front floorboard was a HUGE part in a box. If that is the EGR then that is the biggest EGR I have seen on a 2.8L I4. anyone have a photo of a EGR off the engine? |

I will have to look at home as that site, whatever it is, is banned by websense at work. I hope I get it back today. I don't like driving around a 1.4L 2006 Citroen C2. I will make a photo later. |

The first three pics are of the EGR flow control valve. I guess the last two are also, but I'm not used to looking from that angle. The EGR flow control is a motorized butterfly valve in the intake which closes completely at shutdown to keep the engine from shuttering to a stop. It also closes partially and is modulated to help achieve the desired EGR flow when the EGR is active. The EGR valve and the pictured flow control were changed on mine at the same time. |
