I just received my new filter and immediately noticed some big differences. Althoght the filters have similar dimensions length and width, the number of pleats and size of pleats are different. If you unfolded the Amsoil filter media you would have 1,888 square inches of filtering media. If you unfolded the OEM filter media you would have 894 square inches of filtering media. That is 211% increase in filtering area with the AMSOIL air filter vs the OEM filter. Better media AND more filtering area has to be a plus.

The stock filter has 67 pleats at 7/8" tall...the AMSOIL filter has 110 pleats at 9/8" tall.

Oh by the way, there will be a thread about the Air Flow Snorkel very soon. Dirk will be offering a "Group Buy" deal that will be very nice!

That's the proper way to get more air flow without sacrificing filtration - increase the effective surface area.

Sounds better and better! Especially for those of us hungry for more air for our ORM engines, But I still want a stats on flow/pressure drop and absolute filtration tests.

Above: AMSOIL Ea Air Filter media removes 5 times more dust than traditional cellulose filters and 50 times more dust than wet gauze.

That's what I've always like about Amsoil products, they don't build things "Good Enough" if they can't be the best and do it better, they don't bother. I've never bought anything from them that I didn't get a great real value for my money.

Darby, just to clarify, is that a drop in filter for the stock airbox? I checked that number on Amsoil's site, and the number showed a Wix application.
