| Post subject: | Liberty Cushion Hitch for sale |
I wanted to drop a line here, as I know so many of the CRD Brethren are heavy duty towers... When I bought my CRD, I wanted to use my Schuck cushion hitch (a heavy duty hitch insert filled with urethane and polyethane cushions), as I'd seen how much nicer it made towing in my prior vehicles. (The cushions take the shocks and jolts out of towing, and make your towing a more pleasurable experience). However, with the placement of the spare tire on Liberties, I couldn't use a standard receiver insert, as it was too short to clear the spare...the trailer's jack would hit the spare tire. I did some searching, and found that Schuck makes a different cushion hitch, the 340, which stuck out a bit further...turned out to be JUST PERFECT for a liberty. It doesn't hang down in the way, it sticks out far enough to offer good clearance for towing, but it's not so far out that it makes parking or trail driving difficult. With my CRD now gone, I'm clearing out my CRD accessories from the garage. http://www.schuckhitches.com The 340 sells for $150 on Schuck's site, plus S&H. It is rated at 750# tongue weight and 20,000# of pull...far more than a normal receiver insert, and far more than a CRD driver has to worry about! It really makes towing a much nicer experience. Mine is almost unused...I pulled a few light loads a couple times, but nothing major--the hitch looks like new. I'm willing to sell it for $100, plus actual shipping charges to your ZIP (it weighs 21#). You can PM me, or e-mail me, and I'll get right back to you. I'd listen to reasonable offers, as well. |
