Another one that I find nice to have is the one that fits the transfer case and has the nipple. It allows you to change the fluid without dropping the skid plate and having autotranny fluid everywhere.

The "N" has a nipple to which you can attach a drain line (as opposed to just catching it with the will of gravity). Who has a quick link to a thread containing photos?

<answer>http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=7377&highlight=f108n</answer> (with some spacers for the skid...)

I am still wondering if i can get the "N" model to be useful with a skid on (and actually get a hose over it). Perhaps a 90degree take-off after the thread-pitch adapter?

The "N" version has the nipple on it. Very nice for draining into my recycle container. :)

Post subject:  How far down does this stick?

The valve and the adaptor both seem to be a fairly substatial dimension. When assembled together, how far below the oil pan do they protrude?

Is there any fear of knocking the assembly off?

There is enough difference in the skidplate fit up to be flush like mine to maybe 1/4" below the plate. If you are just doing normal going to the woods to hunt or to a cabin you will never have a problem, if your are doing heavy rock crawling then you need a better skid plate for sure. The oil filter is more likely to be damaged then the tthe fumoto valve even with OEM skids installed. If you are into serious offroading get rid of the OEM skids and buy something that protects the oilfilter also and made tougher.

CRD-108 $15.00

so as i read this is what you will need to install it?

Just as it reads, you need it to install the Fumoto.

My only worry is how far it's going to stick out.

I don't do much offroad stuff, and what I do is mild, so it's not a huge concern. But the adapter and the nipple will cause it to stick out a bit and it could snag on something. Guess I'll just have to be aware of it and watch for anything that could take it out. I don't have skids, so my tranny is hanging there too.

The Fumoto screws into the adaptor and then you screw the adaptor/fumoto into the oil pan. Can't be simplier.
