Post subject:  Cat 2 Micron Fuel Filter NOW Online
We now have the Cat 2 fuel filter conversion in the online store. You can click on the link below. We converted a filter head 2 days ago and put it together with the filter hand tight meaning about 1/2-3/4 of a turn after it made contact with the o-ring. We then put it on a 20" vacuum and this moring its still holding. So if you follow our directions that are included you should not have any issues with leaks.

I just replaced my filter last week, but when it comes due to change it, I'll upgrade.

The CAT filter will most likely be available from an online vendor and at most truck parts places.

So its not just the yellow filter for $60, its the whole assembly, 100% like on the picture? I just bought a OEM filter havent had a chance to install it yet though. Thats why its kinda hard for me to drop another $60....... I really want one though.

It is just an adaptor that replaces the part that the filter screws on to, not the whole head unit.

Could we get a replacement head assemy with the primer at top and the heater and wif sensor on the bottom cap like many trucks? Would we have to worry about the temperture sensor? I know that nipples for the inlet and outlet fuel hoses should be easy.

What are you talking about? Why would you want to replace your head assembly??

If theirs and air leak you will know it by means of the vehicle not running well at WOT, stalls or a no start aftter it sets a couple of days. If you don't have that then there is not and air leak.

I am one of the lucky ones to have had the heater connection leak. It showed up as a miss at first. Eventually, it produced a no start condition after it was parked with the nose uphill for a few hours. I'm not sure why mine leaked. It is stupid to have the heater at the top where it can be subjected to an air pocket. The OEM filter has to be about 2/3 full of air before it passes air to the outlet. There is an aluminum tube running 2/3 of the way down the center of the filter. The air has to get down to the bottom of this tube before it can leave the filter thru the discharge port. That part is smart on a suction system, but having the heater at the top of an air pocket. Not good that.

Same here Greg, just one of those things. It sures brings the CRD to a halt when it finally lets go. Mine wouldn't even run right above 1300 rpm when the fuel port stopped seeping and started leaking.

Ordered the CAT filter today, ordered the Fumoto when they first showed up this time.

My thanks also for the time and effort to build these products for our CRD's gentlemen.

I just installed my kit and did a pictorial write up on it. I would recommend taking the entire assembly to a work bench. It will be much easier.

Nice write up. I hope the instructions were clear. I've been turning wrench for over 30 years and I take things for granted when doing something like this. I figure if a guy is working on his car he should know some basic to begin with, but I have found over the years that, thats not the case. Many times I have found that some shouldn't even be under the hood.
