As my wife and I were driving along I mentioned how great her CRD runs once you get some bugs worked out and you guessed it.... my punishment came not two minutes later in the form of a trans temp light and a slipping trans!!! While I would love a Suncoast converter and other trans mods, I really have no choice but to take it to stealer because it's still under warranty and $1800 to do it right isn't in the budget. I have ignored the TC recall till now because it really frosts me that they're going to de-tune this thing to help their band aid stay on past 70k. Any advice? Anything I've overlooked? Tigafila

If you go in - convince them it needs the new pump - that will save you $300 on the Suncoast install.

Were you towing? lightly loaded stop and go driving? - highway?

I haven't seen any comments about transmission temp lights - some of the early CRD's had the fluid low - but that caused other problems not a temp light.

Regardless of where you get it repaired, I wouldn't wait too long. If there is damage internally, it will worsen over time. On my first TC failure, I didn't make it 15 miles once it started acting up before it locked up in the middle of the road.

We were literally out for a Sunday drive cruising at 45 on back roads when it happened. I dropped it off at the Death Star yesterday and told them we will be towing a camper this summer and want everything, cooler, pump, converter, but I also suspect some burned clutch packs as if it were hot enough to turn the temp light on and it was slipping, I'm sure there is other damage. This thing has never towed, but it has been towed ;) LOL!! They can't even look at it till tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted. Thanks, Tigafila

Ranger1,
As I responded in the attached post, I had the exact same problem and know exactly what you are talking about. I had the internal damage etc.
