If it isn't the spare I would just cool it for a day or two. Sometimes I have a sensor check out for a while then come back. I don't worry about it now but I did the first couple of times it happened.

Hello. Has anyone had trouble with their tire pressure monitor? The light on my dash came on today after every start up and the EVIC says "Check TPM System". I checked all the tires and pressure is fine, I figure it's probably a body control module somewhere getting ready to go South. I don't have the option that shows actual tire pressures, just the basic reading on the EVIC. Thanks for any help you might have on this. gary |

I could be wrong, but it seems like I heard the spare tire may be connected to the system too so check it, I always do when the light comes on. I might be giving you useless info, but it never hurts to put air in the spare anyway. |

Spare tire is the usual culrpit. It just sits there non-chalantly leaking air until it's low enough to set off the "alarm." But when my spare went "low" I don't think it said "Check TPM System" on the EVIC. I might be wrong though. It's been a while. |

Thanks for all the replies and yes spare tire was the first one I checked, 40psi. My main concern is that the EVIC shows the "Check TPM System" in the display, usually if a tire is low, it will say which one is low,,,ie front tire low, spare tire low...etc. Must be an electronic problem somewhere, guess it means a trip to the dealer. Thanks again!!

Before going to the dealer I would disconnect the battery overnight and see how it looks in the morning. |

Everytime I inflat tires over 38 psi I have troblem with the light coming on during hot days then takes a while to go out. I think that the higher pressure causes the tires to heat up well above the spare and cause the light comes on. Try 38 psi all tires. |

The system that supplies individual tire pressure only shows psi for the four tires in use. In that setup the spare tire is still monitored and reported on the EVIC just like the "plain" version. So, that said, when the spare tire is low the EVIC says that the spare is low. Likewise when you have a flat on a primary tire you'll also see a message about low pressure. The "Check TPM" message probably means it can't talk to one of the pressure sensors. Once, when I was driving for hours on the highway in the rain the front left tire went to 0 PSI on the display and the main display reported the "check TPM" message. The tire was not actually flat. The next day the Tire PSI was being reported normally again. Some time after that I started filling the stock tires to 40 PSI, cold [cold is a relative concept in Florida]. In hot weather on the highway they will reach 43 PSI. I've never had any warnings about pressure. |

The warning will occur if the difference in PSI in any one tire varies greatly from the others. 4 or 5 psi sitcks in my mind as the key |

That makes sense in my case, I know my now spare tire has a slow leak in it, I put the new spare on in place of the leaker and the pressure on the leaking tire (spare) was more than 5psi lower than the other four, but still had 35psi in it. I blew the low pressure spare up to match the other four this morning and tonight when I came home from work, no check TPM message, so you guys are on top of this for sure. I will see what happens in the morning, not too worried about it yet like cowcatcher said, give it some time. Thanks again for all the info, sure can't beat a great forum like this for trouble shooting. :)

This has happened to me twice. Both times the system was unable to communicate with one of the sensors, and the page on the EVIC for tire pressures would show that tire as blank. Ignoring it and driving for a couple days healed it and the system's been fine. |
