Post subject:  Best Mileage to Date with 05 CRD

Hi all, new to posting (lurker since January).

Just posted an all time best mpg at 31.3 from Cortez, CO to Phx, AZ (388 miles, 12.386 gallons). Mostly 71 mph with AC on half the trip and 120 miles of 77 mph freeway (with a few bursts to 85+ to keep from getting run over) from Flagstaff to Phoenix. Averaged 29.5 mpg on round trip to Ridgway, CO from Phx.

F37 done, ORM (MAFS only disconnected) no other mods, original tires, 22000 miles on. Purchased in Nov, 05 from Diebel Jeep (now Planet Jeep) in Flagstaff. Service at Bill Luke Jeep in Phoenix.

I am wondering if F31 or F37 actually help the mileage because I can't get anywhere close to 30MPG's?

Is your mileage hand calculated? If no, subtract 2 mpg, if yes Congratulations, I am far away from numbers like that.

I've got a house in Ridgway that I've been working on. Original plans were to winter (live) there and summer up on Horsefly Mesa but one of my kids was diagnosed with Diabetes a couple of months ago and the wife said "sell". That and trying to find a job (read make enough money to survive) w/o having to drive to T-ride all the time.

We will be in Ouray for the 4th, though. Best fireworks show in the country, especially if viewing from the campground at the South end of town (eye level with the fireworks). The resonance from the boom is amazing as it echos off the surrounding mtns.

It was only me and my 45# dog riding in the Libby starting at 9100 feet and droping to 1300 feet so you could say I was going downhill. Having said that on my previous trip up I hand calculated (cuz I don't have a fancy on-board mpg thingy) 30.5 mpg from Phx to Cortez but I was carrying quite a load of tools and had my 50# bike hitch with a 32# bike hanging off the back.

My previous best mpg (30.8) was after filling (the darn pump nozzle didn't shut off so it was real full) up in Telluride and driving all the way to Phoenix. This was May 06 prior to having any recalls done.

I noticed a slight decrease in power with the F37 at first but after about two weeks of driving it seemed just as zippy as pre F37. Just my observations. Travelling up some of these grades on the way to CO the Libby still stays in 5th unless I have the pod and two bikes on top with two bikes hanging off the back, two kids, two dogs, two cats and two adults with all the stuff we need for two weeks of vacation. I'll have to photo the affair this year and post it!!!!

Nice, personally I always camp up imogene basin.....but all that has been turned into "developed" camping now.

Ouray has changed alot in the past 15 years. Wish we could have bought in when it was "cheap"
