How long does it take for the CEL to clear after you plug the MAF back in? I reattached the MAF last night and turned my Jeep off at most every red light attempting to get it to clear. 4-5 on/offs later the bugger is still on. I'm taking my 06 CRD in for the Blower Motor recall and don't want it on. |

It takes a few (3-5) complete cycles of cold to warm up ect. Just go to an Autozone and have them reset for free. |

I couldn't get mine to clear and Autozone refused on the basis that they'd "get in trouble." Please continue this post and let us know if and how you get the light to turn off and how many "cycles" it took. |

Zonie, try going to a different AutoZone. If that doesn't work, PM me as I live in the Phx area and maybe I can help..... |

It was off on when I drove home from work this evening. I guess it takes 2-3 driving cycles; I was under the mistaken impression that it was 2-3 on-offs. I'll have to plug in the MAF when I go to the dealer for oil changes every 3k miles. The Lithia Chrysler/Jeep dealer in Reno made the mistake of offering lifetime oil changes for $800. On a gasser they come out ahead..but I don't think anyone thought to change the price for a diesel. Oh well, their loss is my gain. |

It's some combination of distance and/or on/off cycles. I reset the CEL once by turning off the jeep at every stop light. On the sixth cycle the CEL was off. Another time I had some distance to drive and it just turned off eventually without doing the start/stop to the engine. |

Another time I had some distance to drive and it just turned off eventually without doing the start/stop to the engine. 3 full warm-up/cool-down cycles is what it takes. Now, the exact definition of "warmed up" and "cooled down" is a bit of a mystery ![]() |
