How does it work in the CRD? Is it computer driven? Mine is on the fritz and would like to find a simple solution (fuse) before I take it in. Any suggestions?

Mike with the very expensive CRD.

its all drive by wire with the CRD, the only difference in the CRD compared to any other vehicle is that instead of the ECU having a cruise actuator attachted to the TB, the CRD instead uses all the existing EFI system to controll speed.

That being said, "on the fritz" with the drive by wire system means fewer possible problems, I would suspect the clockspring or switches.....

What exactly to you mean by "on the fritz"

My cruise wouldn't even power on. Took it to the dealer and they reset it and now it works fine.

Have any idea what they "reset"?

Depending on what it was pulling the batt cable overnight might cure all that ailes in this case.

Man I really need to get my hands on a DRBII already! Too bad they are so costly!

Nope. All they said was that they "reset the cruise control system".

Given all the work you have had done lately, I'd bet you need the reset. Mine had the problem after the ECM had been replaced.

I don't know for sure, but 'd bet that the ECM needs to know that cruise is installed and mine and yours were reprogrammed and someone forgot to check that box. :)

That is exactly what I gathered from the service manual. I just do not want to incur any extra costs that the stealership may try to blame on anything I did in the past.

Actually the ECM comes from the fatory with cruise installed. I had my ECM changed and the one the dealer installed was for a limited with no cruise. They had to order a new ECM. So if you had an ECM changed that might be the problem.

I believe that your dealer fed you a line when they couldn't figure out the problem. Cruise on Limited model is standard.

I had my ecm replaced and had to go back to have them turn my cruise control back on. Took a couple of minutes.

When I bought mine used, the CC did not work. That was PITA for the 400 mile drive back home. Since it had to go in for LBJ recall I had them fix the CC. They said it was the speed sensor,it did fix it,guess they were lucky as it`s been in the shop now going on two months and still not running :x

Same thing happened on my '06 also.

Tech figured out that if he reset the ECM using the scanner, it would make the cruise quit working.

Fix was to disconnect the battery negative cable for about 2 minutes. When it was reconnected and test driven, it worked fine.

Good luck!

You know I have to remove the battery from my cell phone when it goes to speaker mode by how I don't know. Then the phone is back to normal. Don't you love high tech?
