After more than 2 1/2 years and 50k I finally have a problem with my CRD and one that has never been noted here, I think.

When I got home today I noticed a black hose approx 1/2 inch diameter hanging down from the Jeep. The hose runs along the mid line of the car in the area of the exhaust and then lifts up in the rear above the diff and maybe keeps on going but I don't know. The end to the front that is hanging down has a white plastic (nylon?) connector or plug, but I can't tell as it has been worn down by the pavement. The hose does not appear to have any pressure on it and is like a window washer hose, but larger diameter. There is no fuel smell, or liquid of any kind coming out of the hose

Any thoughts?

I am no rocket scientist but this has been reported before about 3 months ago. It is a breather for the tranfer case or tranny. Do a search and you might find it. I think the post said where to find the other end and slide it back on. :o

I had this hose fall down, I let it drag for a long time and then decided to not to be so lazy and fix it. Its a transfer case breather line, I routed mine up and it wont fall down again.
