OK so i got this thing in from mopar. They make you buy the entire asembly that bolts to the firewall. how do i install it? is there a filter inside there or do i need to unscrew it and put one in? ITs on so tight i cant get it unscrewed and dont wanna try too hard as i may crack this one too =) any pitfalls or just swap it out nothing special?

Why not have the dealer replace it? Is it out of warranty?

The filter head bolts to the firewall on a braket with two bolts. It has two rubber hoses attached for input and output of fuel and it has three electrical connections, one on the bottom of the filter and two on the front. You will need to screw the sensor out of the bottom of the old filter and put in on the new filter probably. If the system came with a new sensor still screw the old one out and save it as you may find use for it in the future. Also make sure you don't swap the hoses when you put them back on. Should be pretty simple. If you can plug the fuel lines with something as you take them off or clamp them then you will have more fuel in the lines when you purge tyhem and have less likelyhood of contaminants. Purge the system of air with the pump when you are done.

Probably couldn't easily remove the filter with the head not bolted down.

If they didn't replace the old one under warranty I am sure the feds would love to see it, to have it in their hands.

Good info tnks. Its technicaly under warentee im debating going through the dealer for it tho, for many reasons. The only one i trust is very far away and they will surly take all day doing the work, i wont have time b/c of my new job and new move to AZ to get a day off to do it for another 10 days. eating 175.00 for the part and doing myself just seems easier. If i lived here in az and was well est and didnt have 6 billion other things to do like get my plates, registration, smog, license(s) ect ect ect.... i may find my tollerance for pain dealing w/ service people at the dealer a bit higher. if i do myself, i have the defective part ill more than happily send it off to whoever can support investigating a recall. i have warentee on this thing to 100,000miles no deductable, but if i have to fight tooth and nail for every repair, i would rather just get my extended warentee money back and be my own and just deal w/ it. Still not sure what to do w/ this pig jeep yet. I absolutly love it but man.... sheesh.... oh and insurance is way higher if you have a CRD vs no CRD, guess the insurance guys already figured out the CRD is a money hole too.
