Post subject: | Fuel Heater Fitting Spitting Air/Fuel During Priming |
I was changing the water seperating filter this afternoon. I primed the fuel system before connecting the two instrument fittings. After about 10 to 15 pumps, I started getting air/fuel spitting out of the point where the fuel heater wire connects to the puck. I cleaned everything up and got the air bled out. Seems to be running fine. I think I read someone else had seen the same thig as well. I will call the dealership on Monday and see what they think. |

Dealer replaced my filter assembley several weeks ago and it runs much better. Don't drive the jeep much anymore since I go my project 96 Passat running. 48 mpg vs 28 mpg. 75 miles round trip. |

You may want to report to the NTSB as this would cause stalling and potentially an accident. If this keeps happening then they will be forced to do a recall. I wonder if your past 3/36 if they warranty this? |

Since you both have '05's you should have 7/70. |

Thanks Guys, "You may want to report to the NTSB as this would cause stalling and potentially an accident. If this keeps happening then they will be forced to do a recall. I wonder if your past 3/36 if they warranty this?" I registered a report on their website: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ I was more concerned about the potential for a fire from fuel in an electrical connection - seems like a bad combination. There are probably more of you out there who have this issue and do not know about it. I would not have seen it if I hadn't had the plugs disconnected while purging air after a fuel filter change. The vehicle seems to be running just fine and I have had no issues with stalling etc. |

Hi! I put a dab of silicone grease in my fuel heater connector. It will prevent air from being sucked in and may also transfer heat away from the pins. I have never had air leak problems but hope to prevent them! LK ![]() |
