Remote Oil Filter Kit?

I was just looking over the oil filter location on the wifes new CRD and would like to relocate the oil filter to a more readily accessible location.

Anyone know if/where a relocation kit is available?

I tried the search function but that was an exercise in futility.

Haven't seen a kit, but out of curiosity, where did you thing of putting it that's more accessible? If anything, it's swaying down in the breeze in the factory location, really exposed. I can change mine without even putting the vehicle on a ramp or jacks...

Somewhere there was someone who put the Amsoil remote main/bypass filter on a CRD. Just can't remember where I saw it. Maybe someone else knows.

Yup, swapping it is so easy where it is now that I bet youll swap a couple of oil filters on some rocks pretty easily.

For me the main reason to switch it out for a remote kit would be the peace of mind knowing that I wasnt going to bash it on a rock.

Its really scarily exposed down there.

If you could just find a good spot for it, you could get both a remote mount and bypass system built into one w/ this:

Just a few questions:

1. Have you confirmed the adapters supplied will work with the CRD?
2. Can a filter other than AMSOIL be used with the system, a simple yes or no will do.
3. How much is the cost?

I would like to locate the remote system in the engine bay for convenience but this dual filter system looks like it will take up quite a bit of room. Is a single filter bypass kit available?

Not sure where Amsoil gets their filters now, but they were produced by Hastings some time back, and I always just got mine from the local auto parts store. The Hastings filters are a depth type filter instead of paper media and filter at 3-5 micron instead of the normal paper 25 micron. The casing was heavy duty and their bypass valve assemblies were well constructed compared to many I've seen. Difference is costs between Amsoil and Hastings were about a dollar at the worst, so Amsoil wasn't marking them up much. With the bypass filter and air cleaner Amsoil sells I was changing the oil about every 100,000 miles on my gas trucks. I used to get spectro analysis done on them all the time to check the oil, but at almost $20 a test and I was always getting back excellent results I quit bothering after a few years. One had 277,000 miles on it when I sold it, the other is still going strong at 230,000+, none have had a lubed part failure and I haven't had to change any Amsoil greased parts either.

Hastings has not made their filters for a long time now. The new filters have the Donaldson Nanofiber media in them. They are 15 micron absolute meaning they remove 98.7% of the particles down to 15 micron. No other manufacture uses this technology in the automotive industry. The bypass elements are the same technology except its made to filter down to 2 micron absolute.

1. No but I know there are a couple CRD's on this forum that are running Amsoil bypass systems.

I do not see a single Remote kit from Amsoil. THere is a single Bypass (BMK11) but I honestly do not know which would be best for fitting the CRD application. I know one of the people from this forum that has one installed has it tucked into a nook on his CRD and not mounted to a bracket. If I had a CRD here I would figure it out but they are hard to come by in Cali.

You might also be able to use a remote mounting kit from another source such as Summit Remote Filter Mounting Options in order to just move the filter assy.

The BMK14 is a single filter remote.

Honestly, for that price you might want to look into the Trans-dapt brand for a single remote mount if not bothering w/ a bypass system. They run about $50 on Summitracing.com
