Post subject:  Question about oil pan plug

Hi,

I just changed the oil myself in my Libby for the first time. I was thinking about doing the Fumoto oil drain plug upgrade BUT, I can't help thinking that it will stick down and potentially get caught on something. Although I don't care for the current oil drain plug being an Allen head arrangement... It is flush with the pan and does not cause a hazard by hanging down.

Am I missing something about the Fumoto drain?

I have the one with the nipple, and it sticks down. If you get the Fumoto without the nipple attachment-- it will not stick down near as much. But worse than that is the fact that your oil filter is vulnerable-- way down there. If anything hits it you will loose oil pressure. I would get a skid plate and that will solve both problems at once.

Also, you can get a socket oil pan plug nowadays. Or so I was told... the new Mopar replacement is a socket instead of a hex.

83 MB... those were nice. Back when a Benz was a Benz.
