My wonderful wife just got the code read and cleared by my mechanic friend. They got a P1648 and do not have a list for that one. I own the service manual and cannot find a list for such....I have searched here and still no luck. Anyone have a clue where I should search? |

If memory serves...not sure it does...someone stated before that the last two digits of the Jeep OBDII codes were reversed. If so that would mean it is actually a P1684. P1684 Metering Oil Pump Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction |

I have p1648 = CAN-Bus System Component Failure (Volkswagen) -not likely and p1684 = Battery Disconnected Within Last 50 Starts (Chrysler, Jeep) -very likely Didn't your battery just "go dead" |

The wonderful missus had the code cleared by a good friend, but when I took it out for a spin the CEL popped right back up. If it is a code for battery disconnected within the last 50 starts then it is a persistent little bugger. I will take it to the stealer to have it cleared and checked. Oh joy oh bliss. |

It turns out that the P1648 is the glow plug module is on the fritz code. Darling wifey found an old post about it being an issue. She also bought a OBDII scanner so we wouldn't have to bug our mechanic friend every time the CRD chucks a code. I spoke with a service writer and tech who said they have seen this before and will order the parts, but in the mean time it can be driven normally with no troubles. Thanks for the replies. |
