| Post subject: | CRD is being bought back |
We contacted a lawyer about our problem Jeep. They told us we didn't qualify for the lemon law but they took our case under another federal law (which i believe covers anyone under the powertrain warranty). We've recently been informed our Jeep will be bought back, and I think I would have missed it, if it weren't for our most recent problem. The final straw was when me and my family were traveling down the road @ 70MPH and it felt like we were going over a rumble strip. Before i could stop and get to the side of the road the Jeep began seizing and lost power. We heard an awful thud, a grinding noise, and when we finally came to a stop a bunch of metal debris came flying out from under the Jeep. I crawled under and looked and it looks like the torque converter imploded. It was smoking and there were glowing hot chunks of metal in it and I could almost pull the drive shaft out by hand. My buddy was following me and had to come to an abrupt stop, he said we were smoking for the last hundred or so feet before we made it to the shoulder. I contacted the lawyer and he told me the settlement would still be a week or 2 out, and if I needed wheels to have the Jeep repaired since they still have to honor the warranty. The Jeep was towed to a a dealership and they tell me only the drive shaft is bad, the torque converter looks fine. I'm no mechanic but I'm pretty sure what i saw could NOT be classified as any degree of "fine" With the worthless service provided by the dealership and the complete lack of help from anyone @ DC I don't think I'll ever purchase another Jeep, and there is absolutely no way I'll be taking that Jeep back until it gets a new Torque Converter. We've been to the stealership countless times and we gotten nothing but the run around, misinformation and trouble. I usually only lurk but I'm grateful for all the hard work that goes into putting good information on these boards. Dave |

Take it another dealer one that sells a lot of diesel pickups. I think 80% of the problems with the CRD is the guy behind the wrench, and not the truck. |

Being Illinois lemon law is horrible we got them under a Federal breach of warranty act. There probably going to try to settle for cash and they will take there time. Expect it to take about 6 months. |

I'm in Michigan and started my suit in Feb. I was advised that Chrystler's lawyer told Chrystler to buy it back. That was 3 weeks ago. There trying to wait me out. What they have done is make sure I will never buy another one of their products ever. Chrystler tried to tamper with evidence by having the dealership fix it before their inspector could get their to do the final inspection thus resulting in the inspector finding nothing wrong. Shady sensored word I tell ya. |

OK now it's fixed, sounds like a bad dealership, not the Jeep |
