Post subject:  Tranny issues

I have had issues with my tranny the past two days, upon startup I put it in reverse and the tranny does not seem to grab as normal. When the trany is warmI do not seem to have this issue, Tuesday AM, Wed AM and Wed PM leaving from work is when I have noticed this issue. I checked the fluid this afternoon when I got home and it seems to be fine. F37 was done about 15,000 miles ago.
I dropped the jeep off at the dealer this evening for blowe motor recall & rear main seal replacement. I have asked them to look into the tranny issue while it is in the shop.

What causes this symptom??

faulty filter? I seem to remember the oil leaked down into the pan overnight and takes a minute to get back up ... I believe there was a recall for this at one time but it was the 2006's .. maybe they used an old spec filter?

I would need to go back and look at the sticky on TSB's but before the F-31 there were a couple of TSB's to solve this problem. It was initially ID'd as a bad batch of tranny filters that had a bad check valve but very soon they found that the sump filter may have been adversely affected by excess wear of the TC caused by driving too soon after overnight powerup before fluide had circlated. They then were swapping both filters and a few folks got TC's as well. If you skipped those TSB's though the F-37 was supposed to pick those up as well as the F-31.

there was a "service bulletion" issued on the tranny filters. i will try and find a copy of it, but if you all the post i have made it is like the last one i did about 1 month ago. the 7/70 warranty covered it minus the deduct. the key is that it is a "service bulletins" and not a recall...you have to pay for it then. to be honest, i had the exact same problem...the belletin fixed the problem for about a month, and now it is doing the same thing again

Picked up the Jeep and they said they did not find anything wrong with the tranny. I have scheduled another visit with the dealer to leave it overnight so they can see what it does after sitting overnight. Hopefully they will find that there is something wrong with this transmission this time.

ive had the same thing happen the other day... put it in "R" and nothing then it grabbed. i didnt think anything about it but then....

about 3 weeks ago i installed my lift kit. i have my hands all over the driverside upper and lower A arms, no big deal, when i was done with thqt side of the install i wiped my hands on my back side grabbed a cold one ond moved over to the other side. The point im getting at is, i had nothing on my hands but dirt and dust. now back to the tranny...

the other day as im walking out to my Jeep i noticed my lower A arm is covered in something, i look at it and it has a nice red coat of oil over it. So, being that i know i wasnt leaking anything 3 weeks ago i knew it was something new. "Nix" and i started looking all over and found a small tranny line up frond just behind the grill on the drivers side that looked a bit loose and it had "gunk" all over it. above the line it looked clean, but below it it was a big mess.

it going to the dealer next week so they can check it out. I dont know if the tranny missing a beat has anything to do with this but they both happend around the same time.

p.s. my tranny fluid is fine... right amount, good color/smell
