Some advise please....

events as follows;

CEL
Codes p0700 and p0844 from scangauge
cleared
0700 again
cleared
drove 8 miles, then WOT up a hill
engine looses power over 10 seconds
total loss of power and rough idle. NO CODES
Engine restart. Failed
Engine restart successful.
Drove 4 miles without problem
Checked tranny fluid.(in park). all okay
Wondering whatl loss of engine power has to do with tranny codes?

Post subject:  Checked fluids again. All is well 20 miles later

Checked fluids again. All is well 20 miles and 3 WOTs later.

To add to the mystery;

I had high pressure sprayed down the undercarriage the night before
I had added %5 biodiesel for the first time 20 miles prior ot incident
I had tried the scan gauge II in "hybrid" fuel mode to see if it helps with cut-out
Car is parked at steep incline overnight prior to incident.

So.... i am still worried, but nothing seems wrong.

Maybe loose /wet wiring harness to tranny?

Post subject:  Solution? Clear codes then restart 3 times

All,

I have trawled through a lot of your earlier posts and, this is what I think has happened:

1. Truck left on incline (facing forward) over night caused the tranny fluid to distribute in an way that effected the fluid pressure sensor (trapped air pocket ?)

P0841 - Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance
P0844 - Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch A Circuit Intermittent

2. The tranny computer communicates poorly with ECU and there is a lag of 10 minutes/ 5 miles before the tranny requests a "limp mode" for protection. Or, maybe this lag time is intentional (lets you get off the road).

3. Two restarts clears the tranny command to go to "limp Mode"

What I will do next time the tranny throws code P0844; ?

Clear codes then restart 3 times,

Bill

Wow. I'm going to keep the code scanner in the glove box. I've had no issues so far with my used '05 CRD after 200 miles, but reading about the myriad of codes and issues that just seem to happen out of the blue, it sounds like keeping diagnostic equipment close may be the proper path of action.

Ya, some type of scanner** that clears codes is required for the CRD. Also, you will want to print OldNavy's code list and keep it in the car, also.

**ScangaugeII is nice because of its other gauge dispaly features

So what was the P0700?

DAve

From OldNavy's ODB code list it is

P0700 - Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

I assume this is just the generic tranny fault, where 0844 and 0841 are the details
