Sam.

Can I assume that peice of plastic pipe got into the hose? And if so is it going to remain there or are you (your dad) going to get a new one?

Also does anyone know if the newer style hose came on any crd's or was it introduced after they stopped making them for us?

Thanks
Joe

I don't think the newer hose was introduced until after the end of NA production. I believe it came about when the original hoses started to degrade and fail due to heat and internal oil from the CCV.

The original hoses were orange on the inside. I didn't see any orange, but the pictures weren't conclusive. So, orange or no?

Yes that is a piece of grey PVC pipe(like large electrical conduit), new hoses was ordered, so this is the temp repair, I would still like to find a supplier or find someone to custom make some silicon boost hoses.

This was an orange hose, we have a new one on order.

Woops! I have been assuming that the turbo to CAC hose would be the first to fail since it runs hotter. Apparently your CAC to engine hose went first. I better order both hoses and get-er-done instead of just the turbo to CAC. Thanks for the pics.

Do me a favor and hold onto the old ones, I think we need to find someone to duplicate the hoses in silicon, so having an uncut set to get duplicated would be good.

That one goes first because of the oil from the CCV.

Sam, mine apparently has a small crack in it that is not leaking, so says the dealer ( personally I think it is just oozing oil from the CCV). I will see if they need it for warranty claim or if they will give me the old one if that would work for you.

My hose also blew apart at 50K miles. I paid $110.00 at the stealership and got to wait for two weeks to get it. In the mean time, I too put a piece of exhaust pipe in-between to hold it. Problem was that it would blow apart every few miles. I then took some bailing wire and "Tied" the two clamps together so they couldn't spread apart. (I guess the boost is forcing them apart).

So the big question is: Is this a warrantee issue? Anybody get theirs for free?

Mine is and I think others here have had them warranted.

I've used these people in the past when I built custom intercooler piping, etc.. http://www.siliconeintakes.com/ It can get pretty pricy though.

I already sent SAMCO a request for this on their website. Please feel free to add your requests as well.

Has anyone noticed excessive smoking or hard starting from failed CAC hoses? I've got a P0299 code, lacking power, smoking and hard starting, any ideas? Tia, Tigafila

Yes those sound like the same symptoms we had, though in your case it could just be a zebra for the actual symptom.

How many miles did you have on it when it failed?
