I mounted my Mann ProVent today up near the radiator overflow tank. The same basic spot others have chosen, I just used a little different method to mount it. Here's a link to where I stored the photos: http://home.houston.rr.com/boxxie/Libby Follow steps 1 through final. My mounting brackets are made from 1/8 x 1" aluminum. Very easy to work, but still strong. Hoses are standard heater hose from input and output, with some copper "L's" to connect to 1" hose for the ProVent. I used standard clear hose for the drain hose with a cap on the end. |

Boxhead, I got my Provent Saturday with NO INSTRUCTIONS and have one question.. I have an inlet (top) and an outlet (Bottom) on the provent. Does the inlet from the Provent connect to the device on top of the valve cover and does the outlet connect to the intake on the turbo? |

Just to be clear... There are 3 ports on teh Provent. Top (on the side) is inlet from the engine. Middle (on the side) is output back to the turbo. Bottom is the oil drain, which you'll need to attach a hose to and cap the end of the hose to catch the oil and seal the system. |

FarmDiesel, yeah I had the bottom figured out. Put the Provent on during the Talladega race. It was a tight fit and my 60 year old hands kind of hurt today. I was kind of surprised that I see no oil or dirty stuff in the filter yet after about 100 miles. But then I run B-99 do maybe it is cleaner than fossil diesel. I wonder why the counter says I have only 1 post? |

Boxhead, You mentioned "some copper "L's" to connect to 1" hose for the ProVent" in your thread. Are the "L's" one inch? What size hose and 90 degree barbed hose connectors did you use? What size are the ports on the ProVent? I'm using a home made version right now and would like to go with the ProVent. Thats really a nice clean install. Bet the tech at the dealer wouldn't see it.

The "L's" are 1/2" ID > 3/4" ID copper elbows. The inlet/outlet on the Mann are quire large. The elbows just step it down to fit regular heater hose. |

That is a really clean installation. Thanks for posting the information. Can you tell me where you mounted the bracket to? The support bracket is straightforward. But I am not sure where you mounted the bracket for the Provent itself. I have a new Liberty CRD with 700 miles, and don't want to take any chances. My provent is scheduled to be delivered today. One of the thing we found on the VW diesels, which also use synthetic oil, was the the rubber radiator hose would be eat up by the oil and start leaking after prolonged useage. Most went to the clear plastic tubbing that was not effected by the oil and would also allow for inspection without removing anything. |

Okay, I have my Provent and ready to install. I ordered it with a checkvalve. Is it even needed? If so, is it on the drain to prevent any suction through the drain? |

Correct - see if you can easily blow thru in one direction, can't even blow in the opposite direction - the valve should pass oil from the cannister, block oil from the crankcase |

Okay, thanks for the reply...but now that begs the question. Where do I drain it? I saw one of your posts on another forum where you made a tap and drained your Provent into the crankcase...true? If I do not want to do that, I could drain to the atmosphere through the check valve...true? If I wanted to tap, where would I do it on the CRD? I thought your post on tapping was on a Ford. thanks in advance... |
