I was about to order the ORM kit and I thought I would see what the difference was between unplugging the EGR and just unplugging the MAF sensor. When I unplugged the EGR and the MAF the preformance went way down as if there was no turbo boost. I could give it the lead foot and it would barely make it up a small hill. I unplugged the FCV to see if it would help and it did not. Plugged back in the EGR and FCV and its back to Jack rabbit accelleration.

I have an 06 feb build jeep with 37,000 miles on it and I got my first cel light right after the warrenty expired. I assumed it was the EGR valve starting to act up but it seemed the drive the same so I thought it was time to unplug the MAF sensor and go ORM. The performance unplugged was typical of what others have reported, Sound at idle is a bit louder with a small increase in accelleration.

Could the EGR be gummed up enough to spring open when unplugged?

I think I unplugged the EGR valve but maybe it was something else. What I unplugged had a small connector with two wires going to it just underneath a big 3" metal elbow and located slightly towards the engine on the drivers side.

Unplugging the EGR is a b!$%h, and if whatever you unplugged was easy to do...then that wasn't the EGR. I never accomplished it, myself, but I have plenty of scratched fingertips to prove I tried. Someone can provid a link to the pics and diagram for the plug?

Meanwhile, go to Autozone and get the codes read...for free. That would be my first step.

Is it possible that you unplugged the MAP sensor (the one that everyone talks about cleaning...) instead of the EGR? It IS pretty easy to get. Also, a clogged up MAP will affect your turbo operation (since it's getting an inaccurate reading on the oxygen in the intake).

I know it wasn't the map sensor because thats on top of the engine and I've cleaned it already. What I unplugged was not easy to get to. I crawled under the jeep between the two drivers side tires with my stomach hugging the front drivers side tire and with a flashlight you can see the plug way up in there but when you reach for it you can no longer look at what your doing. Took me three attempts. Finnally felt a squeeze tab on the back side that gave in enough to unlatch.

off to autozone I go.
