I was driving from Vegas to Phoenix today and when I went to get back on the highway I hear what sounds like a backfire and I lose power badly. I was about 100 miles into my trip when this happened. I limped to the next exit and parked. I have a CEL but no way to test it. It sputters and jerks irregularly and I can't go over about 35mph with the thing floored. I have only had the thing for a month (bought it with 25k on it and I am sitting at about 27,500). I am sitting in a hotel about a mile from the dealership in Kingman, AZ waiting for them to open tomorrow, but I thought I would put up a post to see if anybody on the forums could help. It seems like I read about this same thing happening to another forum member but I don't remember the cause/solution and I can't find the thread. On a side note, I just changed the oil & filter, air filter and cleaned the MAF sensor yesterday. It was running like a champ until this happened? Any ideas? Any suggestions what to say/ how to handle the dealership? Thanks for any help! |

Check under the hood for split or popped-off intercooler hoses. they are large rubber hoses going from the turbo forward to the intercooler (passenger side) and from the intercooler back to the intake (driver's side). |

The hoses look fine from what I can see with my flashlight. |

The hose could fail where you couldnt see it with a flashlight, the same thing happened here: 
http://lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=23556 failed below the braided cover on the bottom side, plus it was just a burst so it was hard to see. |

Thanks guys! While I have been sitting here thinking of the way things happened and the way that it sounds now when it runs, I think you were both right. I guess I will find out tomorrow. |

CAC hose for sure.... same thing has happend to me around 25k miles |
