Two advantages. Coldest intake you can have, virtually no engine compartment heating of the intake, and it pulls air from a higher/cleaner area when running in dusty conditions. |

No expert on the kj but some other rigs with snorkels have turned the top around to decrease heavy rain intake when necessary. |

was on to airflow and was told you dont turn the head around as isn't good for the engine,was told that the head has some sort of outlets that allow water not to come down the funnell only thing i dont know is how its in cold weather |

I don't think cold weather would have any real impact on engine performance. Have run diesels at the artic circle, if you have your engine heater and battery blanket on they'll light a run in any temperature. The high compression design of the CRD with the glow plugs will light down to 0 degrees F no problem. |
